Hoe about market manipulation? The market doared minutes before Trump announced the 90 day pause in tariffs. Some people made a lot of money. http://www.reuters.com/business/finance/well-timed-options-trades-ahead-trumps-tariff-pause-draw-questions-2025-04-10/ And overall the Dow Jones still fell almost 7% since January 2nd. Celebrating every little spike that Trump causes as some kind of victory and proof you’re “winning” isn’t very convincing. And the sad part is that it’s likely he’s leaking information to his billionaire buddies so they can earn money in a very illegal way. Robber barons. IP: Logged |

Yet a couple of hours beforehand Trump used social media to say “it’s a great time to but”. There was a spike of trading a couple of minutes before the anouncement and Trump himself claims his “friends” earned 2.5 bn that day. It’s fishy. Not to mention his flipflopping has caused major fluctuaties on the stockmarket causing insecurity and fear. That has a very negative economic impact. Consumer sentiments are now at record low levels, going back to 1952. It has lost more than 30% since december 2024. Inflation expectations have jumped to 6.7%, the highest since 1981. If Trump was a democratie president you would have the pitchforks out. Ask yourself how far you’re willing to bend over backwards because from an outsider view you look like a bunch religious fanatics. There’s no logic, just blind faith. He can completely ruin your economy and justice system with no consequences. That’s just crazy and a recipe for disaster. IP: Logged |

He is doing just fine in my view. All of this is necessary. Our country was doomed. The payment of the debt exceeded national defense. Harris would have been business as usual. We probably had two more years before we collapsed. President Trump made the tough decisions that we needed. In the near future, we are going to be more prosperous than ever before. Why should we be taken advantage of by every other nation on the planet? It's all very logical. None of it is based on faith. You just can't see it because you hate President Trump so much. Stop letting the media tell you what to think and what to fear. Everything is going to be great. The economy isn't going to be ruined. That was evidenced by how fast stocks rose again. All of this fear is baseless. We are going to make great individualized trade deals the EU and 75 of our other trading partners. It will be a win/win for everyone. China is being isolated. They are the bad actors who steal intellectual property. In the end, they are ones who must worry. IP: Logged |

Are you an economist, Randall? Because every reputable economist will tell you that Trump’s tariffs are a bad idea. It really doesn’t make any sense to try policies from the past that failed miserably and think they will work this time. That’s magical thinking. It’s not redder, but people that have studies the subject and that are experts that are explaining why this is going to fail. You can’t isolatie your economy. Trying to make everything yourself is going to leave you poorer and not having allies will also put you at risk. Trusting someone that has home banktrupt 6 times, and claim that experts are just making things up, is going to cost you. You will end up poorer and no one will take you seriously anymore. http://www.thecrimson.com/article/2025/4/10/economics-professors-react-trump-tariffs/ IP: Logged |

No, but I took graduate level economics, and I know that it is all just theory. Where one theory says one thing, another theory will refute it. Much of economics is just guessing. And there are, indeed, economists who say otherwise (such as those who are counseling President Trump). But since you mentioned the past, prior to the income tax (which was sold to the public to just be temporary to pay for the war), we paid all of our bills with tariffs. Imagine that! You have so much wrong that you should start watching different news to get some opposing viewpoints. President Trump isn't saying that we should manufacture and produce everything in this country--just that we should bring back some industries. And we can, by making it financially attractive for those industries to return to the U.S. Ultimately, time will tell who is right, won't it? My money is on President Trump. Never bet against President Trump. And get your facts straight. President Trump has never gone bankrupt. Six of his companies have filed for reorganization (Chapter 11), which is smart to use federal law to protect one's business interests. Many huge companies have done the same. The people criticizing that couldn't run a lemonade stand themselves. Being a success doesn't mean there is never failure. President Trump is a billionaire many times over. And those business practices will save this country. Unlike the Dems who want to spend us into oblivion. IP: Logged |

Even Trump is backtracking. Mobile phones and computers are now exempt from tariffs on China. The U.S. political system is polarizing. It’s either Republicans or Democrats. It becomes identity politics rather than aboutpolicies. You “are” Republican or Democrat. This means there’s not enough accountability. And as a consequence both parties struggle with incompetence and corruption. The fact that I think Trump is making a mess of the U.S. and is enabling violation of human rights, doesn’t mean I support the Democrats. Even though their policies align more with my values. I think the entire political system in the U.S. is broken. The influence corporations and billionaires have, the lack of accountability of politicians, the polarity. I understand why people are upset. However, Trump is incompetent. He was cosplaying a succesful businessman, now he’s cosplaying a president that knows what he’s doing. It is weird to me, the U.S. is a first world country with third world features. Unlivable minimum wages, no universal health care, no paid vacation days, no paid maternity leave, stigmatized unions, very expensive and elitist higher education, corrupt politicians, powerful corporations with private armies. You deserve better. But Trump isn’t the answer. He’s making it worse. A lot worse. IP: Logged |

Oh, you’ve reminded me of something. He’s apparently getting one billion dollars of free legal work. If he’s so damned rich, why can’t he pay the people who are working for him? Also, I thought *we* weren’t supposed to want any freebies, like national health care. So, where does a supposed billionaire get off getting freebies? IP: Logged |

How is that backtracking? That exemption is only temporary. You have severe TDS--so much so that no matter what President Trump does, you will hate it and support the opposite. You lose all credibility when you call President Trump incompetent. If you lived here, you would be a rabid Democrat. You also sound liked a rabid globalist. We want to open up the world to our products and services where we have been unfairly locked out. Nothing is getting worse. IP: Logged |

Convicted felon? Are you still deluding yourself with that BS? The free legal work is from bozo firms that unlawfully went after him. He deserves that and much more. Why wouldn't he take it? He's a billionaire--not stupid. I'd take it also. IP: Logged |

You’re in denial. The stock market is down, economic forecasts are down, both Canada and the E.U. are moving away from U.S. allyship. People are getting fired without proper procedures, private information is shared without proper clearence, people are being kidnapped and put into foreign prison without due process. That is most definitly worse. You’re calling me a rabid democrat when that makes absolutely no sense. I don’t associate my identity with any political party, not even in my own country. To me, it’s all about policies. And calling theories, “just guessing” is a really poor view of how science actually works. And like I said before, what Trump is doing has been done before and have some really poor results. This has been studied and pretending that never happened is just dumb. Refusing to learn from the past doesn’t make sense at all.

You’re really dense. I didn’t call you a Dem. I said if you lived here, you would be one. You sound like a far left Dem. I’m pretty sure you think climate change is science, the COVID shots are science, and so on. Exactly when did another POTUS try to use tariffs to reset fair global trade? The stock market is only down because it hates uncertainty. It will be higher than ever soon. The Executive branch doesn’t need a reason to fire people who work in agencies, especially probationary employees, according to the courts. Private information is being shared to uncover fraud. Do you think the richest man in the world, Musk, is going to get a credit card with someone’s name? He ran PayPal! The EU is ready to have zero tariffs with us. Looks like it is working. Canada has been cheating us for years. We are now making trade deals 90 countries. And 130 have contacted us. No one is being kidnapped. If you are in this country illegally, you can be deported. If you break certain laws, you go to prison. Why do you support rapists and murderers? I didn’t hear anything from you about the “trespassers” on Jan. 6 being held in solitary confinement without a trial. By the way, the DOW rose 400 points today. It will stabilize soon because 130 countries agreed to drop their tariffs down to just 10 percent. IP: Logged |

You’re calling me dense, but you don’t believe in vaccinations? I bet you also believe that Trump is 6’3 and weighs 224 pounds. And no, 130 countries did not agree on 10% tariffs. Trump decided on 10% baseline tariffs. That’s completely different. The tariff war was started by Trump, not the other way around. Trump imposed those tariffs and called it “liberation day”, remember? And the E.U. offered a reciprocal 0 % but your president didn’t want that and now you celebrate 10% like you’re winning? It’s U.S. citizens that will have to pay those tariffs to the U.S. government. It’s a consumption tax installed by your own government. Don’t blame other countries for the poor decisions Trump makes. You sound like a parrot. Try some rational thought. The decline of major diseases were on a steep decline BEFORE the introduction of vaccines (because viruses attenuate), and in countries that didn't have a vaccine.I know you're a globalist who thinks that America should bow the knee to all other nations, but President Trump isn't Obama. He isn't putting with that shite. And no, that's not a consumption tax because no one has to buy foreign goods. We get to choose what we buy. That's not a tax. Why are you so concerned about what Americans pay? I somehow think that you are more concerned about criticizing President Trump. Did you see how he was treated at the UFC event recently? That is how his voters feel about him. We are going to stick it out and watch the Golden Age emerge. IP: Logged |

Nope, I'm not a globalist. I think corporations are not always acting in the people's best interest. They need to be kept in check by government. But that's not what Trump is doing. He's actually putting more power into the hands of corporations. Creating a bigger wealth gap. I'm from North Western Europe. A capitalism and socialism hybrid. We were one of the first countries to legalize same sex marriage, being trans or gender fluid is not an issue in my country. And it's functioning pretty well. Even though ultra right wing news outlets like to pretend we're almost broke and overrun with criminal migrants. We have our issues, but we score really well in hapiness, health, education, equality and safety. Usually we're in the top 10 of those statistics. I have a very good life. I'm well educated, I have good job market perspectives, I'm healthy, have my own house, no financial worries. Kids are doing well too. And even if I would get sick, I wouldn't lose my job or go bankrupt due to healthcare costs. I have savings. I went to Venice with my kids last year, and will be going to Sicily with them next week. I'm actually living, not just surviving. Yet according to MAGA I should be miserable and living in hell on earth. But that just isn't true. When you look at the most liberal countries versus the most conservative countries, don't you see a trend? Most people that live in authoritarian regimes are miserable. Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Luxemburg, Switzerland, The Netherlands and Germany all have policies that MAGA considers woke, liberal, toxic, socialism and truly what would end society. Google "most conservative countries" and tell me you would like to live in those countries? Would you want to live in Afghanistan, Iran, Yemen, North Korea or Russia? Abortion bans, trad wives, no trans and gay, protectionism and the "our country is the greatest" attitude. But also theocracies, overglorified leaders, militarized societies, rampant nepotism and corruption, a small ridiculously wealthy elite and a huge poor and oppressed working class population. This is all connected. You see it all around you, and still you will choose this with all your chest? IP: Logged |

Do your understand that the U.S. is headed in becoming such a country? You can’t pick and choose. By taking away other people’s freedom and rights, you’re taking away your own. If you only care about your own freedom of speech, you will lose it. If you only care about your own due process, you will lose it. Claiming people don’t deserve human rights for having a different opinion, is immoral and will ultimately cost you your own human rights. And yes, criminals should be punished but not by taking away their humanity.
