SORRY people!!! I suffered 24 HOURS OF being CABLE-LESS! The darn dog chewed up the cable cord, and I had no idea until the cable guy showed up and FIXED it!

I think the difficulty in defining pervert/perversion is that it is a relative term, one that cannot stand alone. If the term it relates to ("normal") keeps changing, then its own meaning will too.

In the 1870s - 1890s, a perversion would have been any sexual act that wasn't done solely for the purposes of making babies. At other times throughout history, that wouldn't have been the case - sex was seen as a leisure activity. During those periods, a perversion probably would have been multiple partners or homosexuality.

Nowadays, every person has their own opinion of what 'normal' is and therefore what they would consider 'abnormal' or perverted.

When I personally think of a pervert, I think of a sex offender. That isn't strictly or literally correct, but that is the opinion I have grown up around.

As for me, I love nothing more than a room with tightly closed doors and two people in it

I tend to agree. Perversion by societal standards has changed over time; however one thing that remains a constant is children or animals. Within subsets of societal standards, people have their own definitions. Gay couplings are more commonly accepted nowadays. At one time, homosexuality was an actual psychological disorder (which makes me less inclined to believe in most so-called disorders). But I still use "perv" as a term of endearment among my friends.

You see, I don't consider that having sex with children and animals (or even fantasising about it) has ever come under the umbrella of 'pervert' - its way stronger than that in my opinion. I think pervert is, and always has been, more of a 'twisted' feel to it, whereas involving children and animals is better described as 'sick'.

I would be fine if my friends jokingly called me a perv, lol.

Yeah, perversion is too light of a word. Sick is a better word. Maybe depraved. Child molesters are pretty much incurable. When caught, they should be kept isolated from the rest of society. I had a criminal justice class in college called Deviant Behaviors. Scary class. I would classify a lot of things under that umbrella. I would definitely add necrophilia and bestiality, but cannibalism is another one. There are some seriously disturbed people in the world.

Randall I concur. I went to the American Police museum in Florida once, and they have an actual electric chair, and a mock up of a cell. It was one of the most awful moments in my life. You can go in to the cell (bars on the door), have the person you are with strap your arms and legs to the chair and then leave, lock the door. Its all harmless, its not linked up to anything but oh my actual god it is the most awful and scary feeling ever. I burst in to tears. I suddenly had a massive understanding of what it must feel like on death row. I can't even explain it properly. I have pictures somewhere, I'll have a look.

i am not sure what's out of the norm for two consenting adults maybe animals or things like that is drawing the line but healthy intimacy that uses imagination with all the probablities and possibilities of God is ranuchy and i am all for raunchy between two soulmates.
