This has been in the back of my mind, as reported in the news Lily Allen's baby died at 6 months into pregnancy...

Thankfully, a tragedy I've never had to suffer through:

yes, ma'am. you know how Fb sends notifications when you publish anything? well, if you and someone else are rapid fire writing back and forth, a thingy will come up to tell you that you may be considered a.. nuasance (crap, sp?) or a spambot. so, they don't know which you are, and you have to type in that little code thing. so, if you keep typing too fast, it keeps popping off, and eventually you cannot type anymore where you were. I mean, you CAN, but it specifically says that if you do, your privledges can be suspended for however long. wow. trippy, innit??

LEXX... you have, in one lifetime, gone through the pain of like 10 people combined.
I tip my hat to you, lady, for being who you are... it's just amazing.

What happened during pregnancy that would cause you to miscarry? Was it hormonal?

Thank you for your kind words.

Ahhh why?
Luteal Phase Defect is one reason of several.
In no particular order:
http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/lutealphasedefect.html

The standard treatment is to take Progesterone.
However; due to my intersex issues,
they refused to treat me.
Progesterone can cause virilization of a female foetus.
My mother was treated heavily with Progesterone to prevent miscarriages.
That is the cause of my intersexuality.
So no one would treat my Luteal Phase Defect.
My only child, a son, was born because I was being treated with Progesterone after a miscarriage.
otherwise, I would not have carried him 37 weeks.

Other causes were:
Placental Abruption
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Placental_abruption

Placental Insufficiency
http://www.medicineonline.com/articles/p/2/Placental-Insufficiency.html

All of the below:

# defects of the placental membranes
# defects of the umbilical cord
# abnormal implantation of the placenta in the uterus
# a break in the placental membrane that causes the baby's blood to mix with the mother's blood
# Rh incompatibility, a condition in which the mother's blood is not compatible with the baby's blood http://anthro.palomar.edu/blood/Rh_system.htm

I am O-
When/If I get pregnant by a + blood type,
good chance of losing it.

# being pregnant with twins or triplets

#Fibroids http://miscarriage.about.com/od/problemswiththeuterus/p/fibroids.htm

#Retroverted uterus (also known as a tipped uterus or tilted uterus)
http://www.americanpregnancy.org/womenshealth/tippeduterus.html

#Endometriosis
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endometriosis

Dysplasia
Hyperplasia

And more things but you get the idea.
Its a wonder I even had one near full term pregnancy and gave birth!
It was a wondrous experience!

LEXX,

That picture makes me so sad... . I am sorry for all that you have gone through. Your pain has been more than what others have gone through during several life times.

My heart goes out to you.

I just wanted to add. I have had several miscarriages but the last one in 08 was so hard that I asked God to never allow me to get pregnant again. I wrote a letter to my child, hoping I could let him or her know how happy I was to have him or her inside of me. Then I lost him / her one month before Bear deployed. I will never stop loving my little friend and deep down I will never stop hoping for another. I just wish the pain would go away but it doesn't, especially when I miscarriaged and held the wee on in my hand. I will never forgive the German docs that tore into me for the D&C which was not needed.

Is this the type of thread that you wanted PS? Did you really think about the pain that would be involved or did you start it because you wanted to understand? I think you may have been given more than you bargained for and for that, I'm sorry

Lexx Thanks for explaining the hormonal challenges- I've always wondered about why some can not hold a fetus to term. So heartbreaking.

Bears So very sorry.

Its such a tough subject (and I kind of feel miserable again this morning reading about it) ~ I know many who have lost during delivery, preterm birth, miscarriage. I think if a Mothers Love is the most powerful force in the Universe- then you can just imagine what a Mothers Pain would be like
I have suffered Loss and although the Love is still there- the pain really never exactly vanishes.

to all the strong women here.

“It’s an interesting thing. Seeing Kuan Yin relating to a flower so intently. She's not just looking at it; she's interacting with it…I’m seeing how the act of relating to a flower appears to be so simple. Yet, it takes a tremendous amount of courage to make such a “simple” act important. Now, the lotus is floating away.”

BearsArcher,

I started this thread in the hopes that it would serve as a place to discuss this issue and offer support.

I am sorry that this has opened wounds for you.

I'm sorry PS if you thought I was being dismissive or mean. I re-read what I wrote and I sounded a bit harsh. What I meant was, "I am sure that you did not bargain that you would get this much pain"

I love that you started this tread. Personally, this is cathartic because I have not allowed myself to feel the pain from the last time. You are a very loyal and loving person. Never stop being who you are, because we would miss something great.

BearsArcher,

Thank you for sharing your experience because I feel it will be helpful for others to know that they are not alone.

That's why I start off these threads, because I hope doing my Aries "starting" of things will get the ball rolling for discussion...

Like opening the door, that's all.

Regardless, I found a few links that seemed very informative. Not monumental or anything, just well-rounded.

I have never had a problem carrying a child to term, until Kevin had cancer. In fact I have had what you might call textbook pregnancies, the one's where you just are pregnant and then you give birth. Even with twins.

Post his radiation, (which was nowhere near his testicles), and 8 rounds of chemo, I have had 6-8 miscarriages in the last year. All have been in the 1st 2 months, so I know there's something very wrong for this to happen.

It still doesn't make it hurt less.
