Good,EES, we agree.
I would not recommend to someone who could go the way *I* am describing cuz *I* think it is the way out.
Some people can't/will not. Everyone has to make their own best choice for themselves.------------------

I like how diplomatic you guys are both being.I also don't believe in medication unless it's under more extreme circumstances. It's sad to see how ingrained it is in our culture, and how much it is pushed. IP: Logged |

You know feeling like total crap and not having any doctors listen to you can REALLY make you feel like you're going crazy, the stress enough will make you want to run into the nearest psychology ward! IP: Logged |

Well, I've never had a problem with anger or lashing out, until I felt pushed to the edge, and reacted to those who helped or were helping to get me there... I don't fit the examples for BPD, although the elevating importance of things (ten things listed on that one site) concerns all anxiety, I would think.My isolation was because of social anxiety, and agoraphobia... and I dealt with visitors, loved the kids we looked after. At the moment, I'm wondering if someone is okay, and wondering if I should track down a friend of his and ask him to check on him... or call emergency services in his area. we were no longer speaking, but he posted depressing-sounding comments on his twitter, and somewhere else (before deleting his account). I hate that this drags me back in - I was in such a great mood yesterday - but he has me concerned. IP: Logged |

Mental illness CANNOT be helped but character can.

I,finally,have my answer. I think you CAN"T help the weird patterns you develop in order to cope. These are cognitive distortions/ thoughts which are not true or right/false beliefs about oneself and the world.
An example would be "I have to be perfect or no one will like me"

However,I feel there is another layer of all of us--the Conscience.
This is a moral/values/character level.You can have a lot of cognitive distortions but still know right from wrong. So,I think people CAN help it.
