So because this has been popping up in discussions on other sites I frequent, I want to poll the electorate here and ask what are your views on women and men wearing make up?

Do you wear make up?

If yes, why?

If no, why not?

I'm very picky for what I put on my skin (I'm allergic to a lot of stuff). I prefer to not wear make up on a daily basis at the moment, but I love getting dolled up now and then when the occasion calls for.

Yes --

I love makeup! It makes me feel prettier, it just enhances what is there naturally. I don't cake it on at all, it is very natural looking. I am one fo those people who you might say "She doesn't wear makeup" that is until you see me without it! There is a difference. "You, only better" is what the ads used to say and this is how I feel about it.

I feel that everyone should do what they want to do and express themselves however they choose to. Guyliner is hot on some although the guys who wear it aren't usually my type. I can admire it though...

I wear guyliner occasionally. I'm wearing it now actually. Makes my eyes pop. People rarely notice I'm wearing it, but they comment my eyes. I used to wear black nail polish, but not so much anymore. Too much work.

I do, usually because it makes me look more respectable (such as when I'm on biz), sometimes so I can fit in better (that is, it's just part of "the look").

I have nothing against men and women who emphasize their good looks and diminish their perceived flaws, no more than I mind that they try to look clean and presentable in other ways as well. And when it's done as part of a costume or look, well that's all in good fun, IMO.

Of course it becomes a problem if they feel they are worthless without it (or, even worse, cosmetic surgery), like a relative of mine who'd always put on makeup to work on a hot Texas farm and continually go in to reapply her makeup about every hour because she was scared of someone driving up and seeing her without it.

Rarely any longer.
Cannot see up close enough to do it well since an ocular stroke of 2007.
If I use anything it is a wee bit of mascara because my lashes are pitiful.
Most of my pictures posted here at LL are naked faced.

I dont normally wear make up. Sometimes for parties I wear eyeliner or lipstick. I still like buying it though, lol, I could spend hours make up shopping. Its fun but not necessary.

I DEFINITELY wear make up!

I don't go overboard, but I can't stand the "bare" look on myself, at least out in public--makes me feel naked!

On a normal day, I wear foundation, occasionally concealer, and mascara; every now and then, I use primer (need to get some translucent powder). To get more dressed up, or for church, I'll sometimes wear eyeshadow in a natural-tone color, nothing too crazy. I like to line my lower lids with eyeshadow rather than eyeliner. I occasionally use black eyeliner on the upper lids only; sometimes I use eyeshadow to line. Every now and then, I'll do lipstick/gloss or blush. I try not to get crazy, though. Even when I do wear that, it's VERY light.

For church, I also curl my lashes. I only do this for church/special occasions, or else when I'm having a rough day and want to feel prettier/cheer myself up.

I do where makeup. I'm quite the glamor queen with Venus in Leo and Sun in Libra. I enjoy the artistic qualities of transforming your face through applying makeup or other types of accessories to magnify and transform the body.

I'm not a heavy makeup up person. No foundation or blush, however I do wear a good deal of eye makeup. Eyeliner, mascara and a nicely blended eye shadow color, such as brown, dark blue or lavender that blends well with my caramel skin tone. I wear lip gloss or just lip balm depending on my mood. I love the added drama of dark red lipstick however, I don't personally like wearing lipstick. If I do I like it to be very dramatic, preferably a dark maroon color.

Sometimes. I just like lipstick (always ruby red, no matter the season), eyeliner, and a little eyeshadow. Foundation and blush are too complicated for me.

Just like the way it looks. I always have. It's weird about the lipstick part because it's the only colour my mom would wear when I was growing up. I used to try so hard to get her to wear another colour and now it's the only one that I'll wear.

Mascara is about it.
At my age makeup looks goofy.
When I was younger I went wild with it.

Awwwww, this is how i feel too.
But little girls like to play pretend. So, sometimes I play pretend too. Guys seem to notice something's different but can't tell what. I like using good cosmetics too = expensive.

Foundation, rouge, eye shadow, mascara, lipstick...

It happens rarely, it's not my regular thing and I don't feel "naked" without it.

I believe that beauty comes from within, literally. You are what you eat, so if you eat well, your skin is bound to be beautiful and blemish-free.

I wasn't anti make up but I wasn't for it either because for the life of me I couldn't understand someone's need to cake their face with chemicals.

Anyways, like with piercings, it was all a matter of aesthetics because my best friend who got married December last year started applying make up after her wedding and my god, she looks gorgeous. Definitely not over done but beautifully put together

She told me the sequence in which to apply make up and while I myself am too lazy to go all the way, I do appreciate a good thing when I see it

ETA:

I'm wearing some today and it's just moisturiser, followed by face powder, eyeliner, mascara and a pop of red on my lips. The Narcissist in me loves this :P

I go natural most times but my make up regimen is pretty extensive when I do...

First moisturize-
Then primer & green concealor to hide the redness followed by foundation. No powder...don't like the matte chalk look. Blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner & mascara. I groom my eyebrows with wax, curl the lashes and then lipstick. Funny enough I stick to a neutral color palette to look natural...lol. Venus goes to great lengths to look "pretty."

Oh, I have had make up issues since I was about 16. I was in theater, so we were always taught to pile it on on stage or be "washed out". (I am very pale skinned naturally) I never had bad skin until I was almost in my 20's, when it began to break out sporadically and no matter the treatment, wouldn't go away. So of course, make up to cover it up.

Since I had my heart surgery, my skin has stopped breaking out almost completely. I will very rarely get one spot in a week or so's time, which is unreal to me after YEARS of suffering with flare ups.

My make up routine is now moisturizer, a dab of concealer on any spot that may pop up and under my eyes (faint dark circles) Bare Minerals powder and eye sparkle, mascara and a splash of blush with mint lip balm. I fell like a different person! Honestly, you have no idea how much I used to feel I needed to cover my imperfections.

I'm basically in this camp... although I'm a humanist, not a feminist... but I agree with these views on make-up: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipstick_feminism --- as opposed to the "anti-lipstick-feminism" camp, which I see as mostly bollocks.

Dude the squirrel has a point!(warning he is very blunt) Does anyone watch Foamy rants? This one is called A Woman's Deceit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rF-lAsHI6d8

I wear it almost everyday. Usually the most minimal I go is
*concelar
*bronzer: I put it on my nose, I was cursed with a bigger than average nose from my mom's side. Tough I am pretty lucky compared to some people on my mom's side. And as you know lighter colors makes things look bigger, while darker makes things look smaller. So now I put bronzer on my nose that's a few shades darker than my skin...and then people shut up on how my nose is not small, and that I look like I could be Jewish.(you know because of that stereo type, though of course not all Jews have big noses) but it's like when I don't wear bronzer people will fuqing comment on my nose. And I want people to pay attention to my good flaws. Like my deep eyes, my fine hair, my D size b00bz, my nice size bu++, my nice teeth and smile, my smooth skin, and how my arms and legs and stuff are naturally not all that hairy. (I know 4 year olds that have more arm hair than I do)
But it's like 'yeah thanks for commenting on the thing I have absolutely have no control over(unless I get plastic surgery), and have to live with everyday It's not like I can go jogging and nose will get smaller!' And yes I consider getting plastic sugary in the future sometimes. I feel like if it wasn't for that I would be pretty instead of just kind of pretty. Oh well most people can't have it all. I'm very thankful for the good flaws I do have though.
*Mascara: For having dark hair my eyelashes wimpy.

since 20, make up has been my new creative outlet. It's a fun way to to experiment with your looks.(Gem rising) And I am still in my 20's so now is the age to do so!
I use to sing act and dance, not so much anymore...so maybe this is for filling that creative void.
My mom said this about me about a year ago..."you can take the girl out the theater, but you can't take the theater out of the girl!" wahahaha! (I have Leo IC)
I enjoy doing a different make-up look almost every day, keeps things fresh, unrutty, and unpredictable. (my Aqua Mars loves that!)
I like trying it all, from subtle to shocking, from caked on to barely there.

Naked face.
Cannot see well enough to apply properly these days.
And after all,
who would I be trying to impress anyhow?
Makeup would do nothing really to help my appearance or make me feel better;
so why bother?

More concerned w.taking care of my skin & wear makeup to compliment that.
Concealer for eyes, black eyeliner, lip liner, chap stick to smooth the line. Sometimes will mark the lip liner on my hand like a palette & use it as a blush too but I don't buy blush anymore. Then some brow powder.
Averse to lipstick/foundation/powder/mascara/eye shadow. If I get shiny I just use those blotting sheets.
I like the girls who are really creative with their makeup, the ones who are really good at it like the ladies at the makeup counters. But I'm not a show off type person so that's not me.

I have to wear makeup for modelling photo shoots.

For work, just eyeliner and lipstick or gloss, otherwise no.
