I don't see a problem with meeting people online, but you should meet in person before you decide anything. personally I have had success with it and don't see why its frowned upon. its really a safer and less awkward way to go about meeting people, because you get a chance to feel them out first. the way I usually do it is I'll talk to the girl for awhile online and if things are going good I'll ask for her number and we'll text or talk on the phone, after doing that for awhile, then I'll set up a meeting irl. after going through that process the first meeting is alot less awkward and we feel more comfortable around each other.

I grew up along with the internet. To be honest, i don't know of any other way to properly date without the internet being involved somehow. I flew 1,700 miles a few years ago to meet & spend valentine's day with someone.. It was proper romantic.

I met a guy online once - he lived in NY and I lived in FL. We talked all the time and would make the effort to see each other a few times a year. Hardly a relationship, but I will say the flirting, fantasy, and the occasional rendezvous was satisfying at the time. We are still friends to this day but the occasional meet ups have stopped.
