^^^^^ I used to have a friend like that. She made me crazy with all of her decrees and judgments on people's looks in general, and the appearance of the men I dated specifically.

She made several derogatory comments about men who I really cared about and I felt it was really disrespectful. Even if it's said regarding someone's personality, unless the person in question is abusive then I'm not sure that it needs to be said. Or certainly you can find another (less insulting) way to get the same sentiment across.

I'm sure some rather derogatory remarks were made about the appearances and personality of a high school kid from Seattle back in the late 70s. Even he on occassion jokes about it in reference to his general inability to be socially accepted and his general inability to get dates. Too bad for those silly people. Second on the Forbes 400 isn't so bad for the geeky looking kid, huh.

Lol it's not too shabby at all. Except I'm not a genius and neither are the people around me.

I'll reply, "Yes I know and i am on my way there. (Smile)" if it is some acquaintance or random friend that is trying to get into my brain to twist and turn my thoughts."

If it is a close friend, I will probably probe.

Most of the time i am cautious of what ppl are saying to get a reaction out of me. This is one of those words that I think is trying to get a reaction out of me to elevaluate where i stand.

Of course, that geeky kid was smart enough to rip off IBM for DOS code and crush netscape so completely they lost a federal lawsuit due to anti trust issues.

Even a geek can be a proper ******* .

Anywho, one of the lessons I've learned in life is to literally just find amusement in others opinions of myself, or anyone.

One of the things I find interesting in all of this is women will generally stab each other in the back amongst themselves far quicker then men usually will. BUT they also keep amongst themselves.

My saying is:

"It's among the women"

Meaning women sort of have a code were they will glory in destroying other women via gossip, but will never or rarely share among their male counterparts.

^ lots girls don't want to appear malicious, and it also often stems from self esteem issues and jealousy so a lot of girls hide that. You know the whole besties to your face, a straight up btch behind your back.

Most guys generally hate gossip I think.

Nah, men gossip as much as the ladies do, we just do not do it as well.

Men tend to make flat statements, women tend to insinuate things with a sort of vicous airy giggle/smirk.

Guys could never pull that off.

*rolls eyes*

Fact is, I agree with Lexx: I've only heard "you can do better from" from guys, and I've heard my girl friends complaining that guys say this to them. It's condescending.

no, you chose to twist what i said.

I dont hear people say this until a relationshop is over. Kind of a cheering up/supportive comment. Except my 80 year old grandmother. She is judgemental as heck and not shy with her opinions. But in general, I have heard it from men and women, probably said both kindly or manipulatively, depending on the circumstances. I can see how it could be rude though.
