Suppose you're walking late at night in your house with the lights off and you're about to walk by a window. Now, for whatever reason, you know that if you look out the window, you will see something unnatural - something that normal people shouldn't or wouldn't see - and what you would see would be fleeting, as things like these tend to be. Do you look out the window or ignore your apprehension and keep walking?IP: Logged |

Out. I'd rather know what I'm dealing with. Caught some girls tagging my basement door that way, too. And I caught a boy doing something obscene in my yard that way as well. I get you mean something paranormal, but the same principle applies. Of course if it's late at night (and especially if I thought it might be best if I wasn't seen looking) then I'd turn off the lights to both maximize what I can see and minimize the chances that I'd be seen. It depends.Looking out of the window - yes. Looking into the mirror at night - NO FRIGGING WAY! Don`t even ask me, but I HATE walking by my mirror at night, I always make a point to not look into it. It is silly, but mirrors at night just give me the creeps. (only the large mirrors, I can look into the bathroom mirror without any problems though) IP: Logged |

^^ (ETA: you know who I'm replying to, but this thread is another weird example this.)Depends on what you mean by "shouldn't." If "shouldn't" means that some faction (government, alien, supernatural, whatever, including these guys) would come after me if they knew I'd seen it then my curiosity would get the better of me. If, OTOH, I had some intuitive understanding that it would be like looking into a nuclear blast (blinding), Cthulhu (insanity), spirits of the Old Testament (thinking of the Nazis opening the Ark in the end of Indiana Jones), or otherwise dangerous (maybe the hypnotic gaze of a vampire) then my sense of self-preservation would kick in. Btw, back when I was 11 I had an encounter that I believe was supernatural. Suffice to say I hid by terrified instinct, yet despite a bad feeling telling me to "not look" I just had to. What's really frustrating is that I couldn't make out his features at all which made me look even harder, and somehow he/it sensed me looking and things got really bad. So if I EVER have that feeling again, then no I am NOT looking. IP: Logged |

Here's an answer I'm looking for. I've...more or less had encounters. And my mum too. We're kinda spiritual and especially me for some reason (I say some reason as if I forget that I have medicine man potential/blood). No mirrors yet, though, Ceridwen. Personally, when I've had encounters, and my mum too, we get that natural instinctual reaction: terror, it's not normal, flee. IP: Logged |

I would look out the window or into the mirror or whatever it is. I don't feel scared - because whatever happens happens... lol interesting question Scorpy! IP: Logged |

I'd look, have before, that sort of "stuck time" feeling is an old friend of mine and holds no mysteries.Time seems to slow and feel heavy for lack of a better term, things are a bit fuzzy around the edges etc. Eh, now opening bills..that is a real horror show.. IP: Logged |

Funny thing about staring at a mirror in the middle of the night (all lights off) - if you stare at it long enough, eventually - something will look back at you. Sure feels that way. ^^IP: Logged |

Well, there is also a positive to this, if one goes out into the night and sits in the woods when the wind is blowing and the stars are out..you feel something quite positive.IP: Logged |

Did you encounter something paranormal? I know that I would end up looking out the window no matter how strange or scary it might be. Im way too curious lol. Probably would even try to chase it down with camera. IP: Logged |

Yes! It's weird...because you can just FEEL that it's, I dunno, not of this world? Something like that. You can tell that it's something powerful or something, I can hardly describe it lmao! quote: Odette: lol interesting question Scorpy!

Yeah, I've had my fair share of spooky encounters. In this situation I would stop, find a place to hide where most of my body was not visible and take a peak at whats outside that window. I've got Martian instincts and my flight or fight reflexes tend to be on high alert, almost perpetually elevated. If I'm going to potentially giving myself a heart attack I have to be careful to not put myself in situations that have no exit strategy.About two two years ago I used to have these figures visiting me at night in my bedroom at my home. They'd whisper me awake and I'd be covered in sweat shaking and to my horror I wasn't alone in that room. I later found out that I have a long line of medium/psychics in my family who've been stalked by spirits. Though the spirits or "beings" that I encountered in those visitations seemed to me like they came in peace. After a while they stopped coming, I think I just got used to them. To conclude I never ignore my apprehensions. But I do follow my instincts. And in those types of situations (paranormal encounters), my instincts usually tell me to stop and hide, and find a way to slyly see what the heck is out that window. Trying not to draw unwanted attention to myself in case I need to plot an escape. IP: Logged |

I would look out the window or maybe even go outside and check it out, i'm just cavalier in that way. That doesnt mean for a second that im not scared though, the curiosity just gets the better of me.IP: Logged |

But I'd jump down the rabbit hole (well actually I'd take safety precautions first), that is the unknown in of itself isn't frightening to me...at least not more than the everyday world is. If I knew I'd see something that would change how I saw everything if I looked out the window I WOULD. But if I had that same sense of evil that I felt at 11 then I wouldn't. IP: Logged |

I keep an eye out and try to make note, if there are any reports on the news then I will call and say something. When it comes to gangs, drugs and theift the police are incompetent where I live. A lot of the people where I live play the it could never happen here thinking. True story there was an auto theft ring taking place where I live and normally i'm up until 3am finishing my homework. I hear some loud banging going on, I look out the window and I don't see anything. I had a feeling i should go out and take a look, but I didn't. I find out a day later my neibours car was stolen. Another time there was a missing person report several blocks where I live. A witness said she heard a girl and guy arguing and figured it was just a couple fighting and didn't even bother to take a look. The missing person report turned into a rape and murder. So it is worth to keep an eye out and if its nothing then its nothing. IP: Logged |

My parents were both psychics and their friends were also into the metaphysical so such things are just a part of my experiences growing up.Stuff like my father telling me "Don't look over your left shoulder to quickly you really don't want to see what's back there" Eh we look into the mirror darkly.
