The plots of Daria largely concern juxtaposition between the central character's jaded, sardonic cynicism and the values/preoccupations of her suburban American hometown of Lawndale.

In The New York Times, the protagonist was described as "a blend of Dorothy Parker, Fran Lebowitz, and Janeane Garofalo, wearing Carrie Donovan's glasses. Daria Morgendorffer, 16 and cursed with a functioning brain, has the misfortune to see high school, her family, and her life for exactly what they are and the temerity to comment on it."

Nah, do keep to myself though when I go out I'll listen to language learning stuff and philosophy on my chipod and reveiw my note cards.

Have gotten fairly proficient at pinyin Mandarin, may move onto India's language as the local shoppe owners are from there and I'll have someone to practice it with..

Which oddly enough means people are more likely to interrupt having a beer and just enjoying the scenery

Oddly enough, can recall her being Bevis and Butthead's foil before spinning it off into a show itself

I more dabble in it b/c there is little feedback to be had.

Took a long to learn the proper way to pronounce the qu sound, it more "shuh" then the Western sound

Is that the one where she is saying Sister?

I think that's the shee-shee one.

She speaks it with her friend, and he has an odd blend of Mandarin and Spanish that he speaks with his sister.

Not many kids at School know what they are talking about, so they can converse privately.

Sheh-sheh is actually spelled xie-xie

It means "thanks"

Well, they have private conversations above my head as well, ha!

I will tell her, thanks.

So, which one is the mei-mei?

She writes all these characters on the Family Chalkboard, and then superimposes different colours on them; they're really artistic.

Oh crap, I hope she doesn't mispronounce in mixed company, sheesh!

My son knew that one of his crew-members was talking to his brother, because she called him that enough times that he recognized the word.

Dun dun dun!!!!

As a general rule I stay away from learning the swear words or kinda "I'm interested in you" slang when learning a new language.

Well Padre, Brother, Sister & Thank You hardly come under those headings.

Especially in a High School Classroom!

Hmm perhaps a misunderstanding, my approach would not bring me to mei-mei naturally.

Basics first like greetings, left/right up and down etc, though oddly enough do know "this is my wife"

I asked because different countries have different perspectives and I've learned some of them and it can help me understand you better. Hearing Europe isn't very helpful as there are a lot of differences country to country (and even region to region within countries) but whatever, it's not like I'm trying to inflict a surprise visit on you.

I'm going to assume English is a second language for you, however. That will make me more patient with plenty of future threads you will be posting.

What would you like to be doing 10 years from now? And by that I mean that it's possible for you to do so.

I was going to post this alternate alien reality checklist, but it appears that it has mysteriously disappeared.

Twice young lady, fell deeply, madly, in love with Libra suns, proposed twice, both accepted.

Realized that..wow..just not going to work in one case, in the other, became her boy toy (sex was off the charts)things went waaay off of the rails

She catered to each and every one of my basal natures...Libra women can see through me as if I'm made of glass.

As for Barbiegirl..baby doll...come on now, don't inflict me upon her

Your doll face comment has led to this BarbieGirl!

Nah, it was random, thought maybe you posted it in the wrong thread.

Libra women for me are like curveballs for Serano in Major League..just..
