Exactly, I used to play Doom II, loved it, got over it and found better things to do

Now, as tech grows, and the understanding of the pleasure centers of the brain grows, will games (and bemusement) grow more popular, or less time consuming.

To the OP's premise, what would make a female, or male, "super hero/heroine?"

I've heard T levels are low in young men today, this is uhm, anecdotal evidence.

I do not blame the ladies at all.

Out of curiousity, would it be better to see stronger female heroines in film (tho I do think there are plenty of them) or would it be better for BF/Husbands to spend hours on video game play?

Assuming hetero sexuality of course.

Yeah... No.

Video Games as a form of entertainment emulsion have evolved far more than just simple concepts of finishing tasks and getting points.

Video Games these days provide vivid story telling experience combined with interesting characters and backdrops; Much like movies do. Only Video Games have a significant edge over movies where they give the player an interactive link to the story through the character they are controlling.

Since we are talking about "cultured" edge of movies and books (and talking about awesome FEMALE CHARACTERS in comic books and movies,) here check this scene out from Metal Gear Solid (WARNING: Don't watch this if you haven't played Metal Gear Solid but plan to in the near future )

Someone's a gamer . Lol! I mean that in a good way. I love your selection there; Especially Bayonetta. Its kinda sad that she gets compared way too often to Dante from Devil May Cry (I like both characters.)

Kero, you should look into Bayonetta. She is like the VG version of you .

Devil May Cry 2 is the only Devil may cry game I have played. It was fun though and as an added bonus Dante is half demon man candy lol Although there probably are other more appealing Heroes or Villians than Dante he isn't bad.

Number 2 was an ok game but many consider it to be the weakest amoung the Devil May Cry series interms of story telling and character interest. Even then, it was still fun to play.

IMO the best Dante character model has to be from DMC 4 (Even if he had to share the spotlight as a protagonist with Nero.)

And the lines... Oh the lines .

This scene pretty much made the day of all Dante Fangirls out there. When I was playing the game and this scene came up, the first thought that went to my mind was "did he just say what I think he meant to say?"

Uhm, how about..yes.

Pathetic really, projecting personality unto a pixelated image, plot line aside, it is not as if one finishes the game and receives a check for hours upon hours of effort.

Or..how heroic, tick tock, good thing time was not wasted on the frivolous.

Projection is a natural part of being human, apparently any sort of balance is tossed out the window.

Hmm, do cheeto crumbs stain white shirts?

Well aren't you wasting time right now posting this up on the internet? Shouldn't you be out putting this time to better use?

Seriously Padre, don't be stupid.

Yes, there is no denying that there are people out there who spend way too much time playing video games but then that is no different than any given person wasting time doing anything else that is counter-productive.

Video Games are a leisure activity that you indulge in your free time (emphasis on FREE time.) Some people read books during their free time, some people watch movies or TV shows, and some people play video games. Addiction to any form of indulgence is bad and video games aren't an exception to that rule.

Don't stereotype people.

As for the comment on projecting "human qualities" on "pixals;" Its pretty much the same thing as a human actor taking on a role. We accept that the actor in question is an actor playing a role. We do not define the actor through his/her role, but rather focus on the role he/she is playing. The same can be said about a character in a book.

The same thing applies to VG characters. Everyone knows that a VG character is nothing but a bunch of pixals but no one really focuses on that. They focus on the role this character is playing in a story and that is where the emotive reactions come from.

Maybe it's just late (I'm about to go crash) but this just struck me as funny (as opposed to making a point or endorsing anything said) and reminded me of this thread:

If I'm reading the fine print right this was originally made in 1994 (helping to explain choice of words).

^ lol That kid is a Gemini with Aries Moon and Aries AC.. and the girl is a Capricorn with Scorpio Moon and Aquarius AC.

And in Myers-Briggs types.. the guy would seem like an ENTP (Inventor) and the girl like an ESTJ (Supervisor).

Cool, the old school comic strips are sometimes hard to find, I loved "the Far Side", usually gave me a chuckle at least

I do think women sometimes can get sidetracked via emotions, also think when a woman is focused...look out..whatever it is y'all can be very very intense about it..then create a sort of wolfette pack to get it done..

All these --- women bla --- men bla.... generalisations (mainly when they are blatantly silly ones) are genuinely starting to get on my nerves.
I used to like reading posts here and interacting with people, but between Padre, AG, occasionally Pixie and all of their combined gender issues & gender biases ... I think I've lost my interest in Sweetpeas.
I mean why couldn't this thread just be a fun thread discussing female superheroes and potential movies?

Well, I think there are female heroines, perhaps I'm mistaken as I watch Underworld and see Kate Beckinsale as Lillith and the lead character

Clearly not getting anywhere with Miss 21-yr-old know.it.all... because like AG, she truly knows it all, at her age, and she is obviously 'perfectly fine' and 'perfectly happy' and I'm the one who doesn't get her.. and who is foolishly trusting her non-existent intuition.

So that's that.

Bye.

You really don't get me, Odette. By that I mean you assume things you shouldn't. And I'm not the only one you do that to.

In any case I could find ways to show your opinions are issues and obsessions as well.
