I came to the conclusion 65 years would be the most optimal age for me to end the show, what about you?------------------

Y'all are wanting to go out early at 60 & 70s
My grandma is in her 70s and still very much enjoying a active lifestyle with tons of friends and activities.
My dads side live to their late 80s-90s with petty good mental health till mid to late 80s
My mom's side doesn't seem so lucky for the men.
Her dad died after several strokes in his early 70s but my grandma is still kicking it physically and mentally in her late 60sI'll be extremely happy with 80-85 IP: Logged |

I refuse to use medication for my MG -
although I have been attempting to live healthier for the past 2 years.
But, that won't undo all the terrible things I've done to this body in the past 10 years+ lol - and, prior to the 1970s, when treatment for MG was revolutionized, those who were unmedicated only lived into their 40s on average... I'd be alright living to see 60. I just want to be sure my son is alright on his own. (With his ASD, this is a constant worry... his future - not my own.) I'm lucky with being in the here and now - I've been one foot in the door and one foot out since I got here it seems. I've had too many close calls. Though I do have a twisted ambition to make the day miserable and long for nurses in the rest home that I dream of being placed in someday... (Having been a CNA myself... oh, yes... that is a wicked wish.) haha I would love to be the wacky lady in ward b who hides all the utensils in her skirt elastic, and insists that the couch in the common parlor is hers so nobody should sit on it... buzzing the station all night long insisting someone call the heat company because I need more coal, asking the nurses to check on the dogs, and calling everyone Jimmy or Fanny for the helluvit, then spooking the shite out of them by saying there's a ghost in the corner of the room just watching us.... @_@ I can do this - and it would be so hilarious.... I don't care much.. because I believe in reincarnation anyway.
But I wouldn't want to die at a stage of my life when I have a lot of responsibilities and too many people are relying on me (such as present time). I would like to know that I died at a point when I wasn't so needed... if that makes sense... when my death wouldn't be so upsetting to others or cause problems for them. People expect older people to die (75/80+). Because there is an expectation - it wouldn't come as a shock to them.

That would depend on both the world itself and my health.In 30 years it could be that aging is somewhat reversible or can at least be halted and/or that many age-related problems can be negated. That would change how I'd feel about being 60-70. Also important is the state of the world. In some ways I'd like immortality to witness how history continues to unfold out of sheer curiosity and yet there are a great many sitches I'd hope I'd never see or endure and suicide is an option I'd never want to be deprived of (and would never opt for immortality if it prohibited me from being able to end my own existence). And this, like future medical advances, is unknown. All I can say is that I want to die before being hooked to machines or forced into an abusive hospice or old folks home. And I'd prefer a relatively quick & painless death to that of say wasting away to cancer. I want the right to end my existence with medical aid as well. IP: Logged |

So weird because my boss is 62 and he is a robust, fit and healthy guy - quicker witted than almost all 20 year olds. I also work with some people in their 70's that are amazing. When I say 'work with', I mean they are working for the company - not that I'm working to take care of them. It seems some of you think once you hit 70, you're regulated to a wheelchair or walker and have to wear a diaper. NOT TRUE a lot of the time.My grandfather passed away last year at the age of 92. He lived on his own until the very last day and died in his sleep after a family reunion. That seems about perfect... amazing man. IP: Logged |

I agree with Barbiegirl, I'd like to live as long as I can, really.
Also I'm not for what Kerosene says about dying when loved ones do. You can always make new loved ones by meeting new friends or lovers....Family dying, that would suck. but life does go on. Also I don't want to live to 100 if it means im suffering. I want to die peacefully and suddenly.
