From the time I was a teen, I would go to the library and read everything on Ann Bolyen. I am interested in some of the other wives more now, though.

Catherine Parr was amazing. She was very smart, very savvy and very kind too--an amazing women.

She was the first Queen of England to write her own book, too.

I bought a few books on Elizabeth but she does not fascinate me as much.

Not really having to do with Henry VIII I remember as a child I would be sneaking around in my mom`s bookshelf and trying to sneak some glances on the drama "Maria Stuart" by Schiller. I would be pestering my teacher wanting to read it in class and always hearing "Not now. Not yet. You`re too young."
I do remember also that when we were reading it, we were reading the dialogue between the two queens, and while I had always been a shy girl in class, I was asked to read the role of Maria, and the primadonna in our class (who wanted to become an actress) was reading Elisabeth.

Well that small scene dampened our relationship for years, as my teacher was praising my "subtle expression of royalty and heartfelt indignatiion and unsuppressable pride" (Hey I was just reading the words! nothing royal about that. lol), and I guess the other girl was just a little upset, cause he said that. *sighs*

Anyway as for Henry VIII, interestingly, while I was undoubtedly fascinated with Anne, I always felt a pull, almost an understanding and compassion for Katherine of Aragon. I feel just so sorry for her, as she truely loved him till the end. (of course I am totally romanticizing here. HOw would I know? lol)

As for the Tower-experience, it was neither of Henry`s wifes that "screamed" to me, but that experience of Lady Jane Grey. It just felt very immediate to me.
WEird, hu?

Just finished a historical novel. It was really good. It was about Katherine Parr. What was really sad is that she was crazy about Thomas Seymour and he seemed to be a sociopath. She was like soooooo obsessed with him. She just got rid of the King through his death. She lived in fear for the years she was married. He was awful and she put up with it.

Then, she married the love of her life, she thought, and he turned out to be a vain sociopath.

She died in childbirth and she was talking about that he poisoned her so he could marry upward to Princess Elizabeth.

No one knows if this was true but he had an affair with Elizabeth in her house and she found them.

Very sad!

Yeah, I just pulled out "My Enemy, the Queen" for my Daughter.

There were a few more historical ones I had lying about the place she read.

I actually called my Astrology after a John Dee journal quote.

It was about a Comet, and he called it "Faire Starshyne."

I think I like Mary, Queen of Scots the best, but would never wish to become conversant with the "Sword of Damocles" syndrome.

Yech.

This is interesting. I am reading "The Boleyn Girls" now.

Ann wanted to marry a really rich, well connected etc guy named Henry Percy. She thought Cardinal Woolsey ruined it for her but it was not he but the King.

Anne ruined Woolsey when she became queen. He died in ruin as a result of her machinations.

She made a mistake and her whole life was spent in revenge against him.

That's why it's better to just let Spirit deal with those sorts of things.

If you only put out Good Vibes, that's what returns to you.

Appearances may deceive, and The Hermit has a much Wider Panorama than most.

Besides it eats you up inside. I don't want to be like that. It creates inner changes.

I had dreams of getting back my old confidence and I have been.

This book shows her as awful and her sister Mary as really sweet.

Can't always judge a book by its cover, that is true.

Of course, it's like a marriage.

I try not to take sides. Unless you are there and a part of it, you never Really know what goes on.

You can only do your best.

This is really interesting. Catherine Parr, the last wife because Henry died, was very kind and very gracious from a pure heart, not fake-y

Anyway, the King was going to kill her but because of the great love she had from others, it got thwarted.

Anne Boleyn had not friends because she was such a #@#$# that when Henry went after her, no one was there to help

This is interesting. The last Queen--Catherine Parr--was so amazingly good and kind. However, she married a real jerk--a sociopath. He put her through so much grief. It shows that even people who are very wise make mistakes.
