Hmm my boyfriend is an ENFJ, but he is barely that much more extroverted than introverted. I am an INFP. He seems to know me better than I know myself. Randomly he will just say something about me and Im like "what I'm like that?" and I think about it and wow I really AM like that! But I never really give much thought to how I am too, so I guess it makes it easier for me to get surprised lol.IP: Logged |

I'm a fellow INFJ. I don't think I'm understanding your post entirely but here's my input. I sense things about others that other people wouldn't pick up on. I can see a person's pain without even actually knowing them. I'm kind of like a sponge in those regards. With some people, it's almost like a telepathic connection at times. Sometimes it feels like over drive and I have to avoid eye contact because others are transmitting too much. When it comes to intuition I can be pretty accurate. If I have a feeling something isn't right I can tell. It's not like this with everyone but with most people it's like looking through glass, I can already see what their intentions and motives are and why. There have been plenty of times I've had a gut feeling about something and just KNEW something out of the blue without a single clue and turned out to be right. I talk a lot but I'm also a great listener and have been told I should be a therapist. People always tell me things as if they were talking to a therapist even if they don't even know me.IP: Logged |

I'm not sure if I can sum up people but I do judge people a lot based on the way they react to thingsI also pick up on nonverbal things -- more than regular talking and situations

I'm an INFJ and I went out with my boyfriend for his friend's birthday dinner not too long ago. I was telling him after we left that I was kind of worried about a guy I was talking to there. It was the first time meeting this guy, but I could pick up on so much from only talking to him for maybe 15-20 minutes. It wasn't a very deep conversation, but I felt as if I needed to help him. I felt very strongly that he needed to hear encouraging words, he was struggling with life, he was depressed, and he felt behind in life versus where his friends are at. He didn't tell me any of this, I just picked up on it very quickly, despite the fact that he was trying to maintain a happy appearance on the outside. I left him with words of encouragement and his eyes seemed to light up. As if no one believes in him, and what I said really meant something in him. When my boyfriend and I left, I told him I was worried about that guy. And I told him everything I picked up on. And he was surprised that I could pick up on that much from meeting someone new and only talking to them for a short period of time. He said it's a gift to have, and that not many people are able to do that. I've had many people tell me that when we are talking, I am really focused on them and what they are saying. My boyfriend's friend caught me off guard when he said to me that he likes talking to me because he feels that I listen so intently on what he says, and what a rarity that is. This has been a bit of a long post, sorry for rambling. But I believe all of my ramblings tie into being an INFJ. We are counselors by nature. We are interested in the psychological aspects that shape people. And we are damn good at reading them and figuring them out quickly! IP: Logged |

It's a gift yet a curse I guess. Sometimes I wish I wasn't so empathetic and able to pick up on people's feelings so easily. I wanted to be a counselor as a profession, but I quickly realized in grad school how draining it was for me even in pretend case study sessions. My emotions are like a sponge, I pick up on so much. I've had to learn how to put a wall up so to speak to not let so much effect me. But maybe I have that gift for a reason, to help others IP: Logged |
