Yes, he did. A woman can't wear yoga pants outside of her home, and expect men to not violate her? IP: Logged |

So I posted the article on an anger management page I post on and talked about how it made me feel. I talked about my experiences with women and how I've always felt ignored, rejected, or taken for granted by women I've liked/loved. And like always, most of the women were incredibly dismissive and/or hostile. It's amazing how that always seems to happen despite women's insistence that they appreciate guys who can talk about their feelings and be vulnerable with them. Obviously, they only want that when it is convenient for them. Women's dismissive attitudes have made me appreciate the few good women even more. Women like Ami Anne, Odette, and a few others here have always been kind and suppprtive of me. I did not. I said they are slutty and draw attention. IP: Logged |

You also put words in my mouth and read things into my post that aren't there. IP: Logged |

There's being smart and cautious, and there's being stupid. Let's look at robbery. If you walk down a dark alley in a bad neighborhood flashing lots of cash, that doesn't give anyone the right to rob you. You have freedom of movement in this country and can freely show others how much money you have. However, you're probably going to get robbed. IP: Logged |

It's a marketing ploy. Trying to appeal to the female market to sell products to them. I hate it but that's all it really is. Trying to touch people's hearts to make a profit. IP: Logged |

It also implies it is men's responsibility to do something about these things, as if most of us wouldn't stand up for people being bullied and harassed if Gillete didn't tell us to do it.I'll be honest. As a man, I find the ad to be offensive and absurd. First of all, an ad isn't going to stop bad people from being bad people. Secondly, it is problematic because it implies most men bully and sexually harass others, or at least don't do anything about it when they do see those things happening.
Haven’t seen the commercial , so maybe I have no business butting in here, but I’ve gotta say... You’re right, it’s ridiculous to think that someone is going to stop being abusive because they had a huge epiphany while watching a commercial. But stepping in and stopping it when you see it... little things can have a big impact in this regard. “As if most of us wouldn’t stand up for people being bullied and harassed...” Truth is, most of us rarely do, even if we actually manage to see it. I’m just remembering being 19 and fighting with my boyfriend, and the only other person around decided to give us some privacy and I got punched in the face. Struggling with this right now because I just got a call out of the blue from someone I don’t know very well, but I have a not-good feeling about her boyfriend, and I’m wondering if and how to bring it up.

And also, I’m pretty sure the majority of rapes don’t happen when you’re walking drunk in yoga pants.IP: Logged |

You would have hated the old days when we didn't wear clothes at all. Although, I don't think bodies were quite sexualised the way they are now. A woman only appears 'slutty' in certain clothes because you are sexualising her. Otherwise it's just clothes. There are still indigenous tribes where women don't cover their breasts. Why are they not 'slutty'? Because their culture doesn't sexualise their breasts. IP: Logged |
