Ami,

"It is not a lesbian energy"

This is actually a historical and astrological misconception about her, or well, at least it is not the core.

This asteroid is neither about homo nor heterosexualism,b ut about passion which find creative expression.

It`s also about a purely feminine expression of energy in a powerful, independent way, which may have been considered as strange or even a thread to a mainly patriarchal culture, and thus may have led to coining the term of lesbianism.

I just got a flash of insight about Sappho.

Maybe, in older times, woman could not be passionate about anything without being thought of as "weird"

I am thinking of how the Victorian emotions were so repressed for example.

Maybe, if a woman was very passionate about anything, she was ostracized so found herself allied with woman who were the same way.

Maybe a community of woman arouse where they were allowed to be all those things society would not let them.

Sexuality was a part of it just as all types of passion were such as poetry, music etc was.

This energy of free passion might be what Sappho is.

I must have been STUCK in a past life

BTW I think it does make sense if Sappho aspects are strong In Lesbians.
But not because Sappho represents lesbianism per se, but because of the emphasis on the female principle as well as a certain strength / independence /non-conventionality when it comes to the expression of love and passion.

Your ability to express subtle concepts in a language which is not your own is amazing. I will spare you the Robert Di Nero clip lol

You have a good point about Sappho being associated with lesbians cuz lesbians broke the social mold of their time .
They lived a life which embraced a passion not allowed to the woman who was in the mold.

Thank you for your 3 thumbs up. When a Sag compliments you, you KNOW you did well

Either way, what is wrong with homosexuality? Like I implied before, a strong Sappho can lend to being romantically involved with other women. I'm not a lesbian, but I like to hit on other women, especially really cute girls

Well, Vertiver, we were not really talking about homosexuality, per se.
Sappho, is erroneously, associated with homosexuality,in a way.

IOW, Sappho is an energy that is not related to being a homosexual.
It is an energy of freedom for passion, I think, which is not homo or heterosexual.

Are you saying that you embrace Sappho in another way, Vertiver?
Are you bi--sexual or just not rigid in one sexual orientation

If so, do you have astrological placements which relate to this?

Please share them if you do.

Vertiver,

there is nothing wrong with either sexual orientation, I just think that it doesn`T do Sappho any justice to limit her to be a symbol of sexual preference.
I think it is a misconception of this asteroid. That`s all.
Sappho can be strong in homosexual as well as heterosexual people, but this asteroid doesn`t solely indicate sexual orientation.

Having said that I repeat I definitely think that it might be strong in homosexual people, but not because it indicates homosexuality per se, but because of the uncompromising unwavering and aesthetical passion with which Sappho expressed her feelings. A way of truthfully lead her life regardless of societie`s thoughts on that.

That is probably true for most homosexual people, but it is not an exclusive trait of them.

So my thought is that Sappho represents the "truthful and usually aesthetical expression of passion", no matter what or who triggers that passion.

Yes, this describes Sappho well, DD.

This is my newest ear worm( a song you can't get out of your head )

I am just getting the last vestiges of Alice Cooper's Poison out of my head after 4 days of it

This describes the passion of Sappho, to me.

In Synastry, Sappho is amazing. I don't think it matters what the person's sexual orientation is. The Sappho person will respond to the Planet person with creative and passionate sensuality . The Planet person becomes Sappho’s muse, encouraging Sappho to express him/herself in a way that is both hypnotically compelling and expressive of an inner lyricsm ( which may not ever have seen the light of day before) . Sappho wants to beguile her muse through the inventive use of art, words, poetry, song , dance, sexuality or any other form of creative expression.

In love relationships ...... If, for example, her Sappho conjuncts his Venus – in my mind’s eye, I get the impression of a woman mesmerizing and bonding with her lover through a slow, sensual bellydance. He loses himself in the intimate spell she weaves (Sappho), which has in itself been born from the inspiration she has received through his love (Venus). This is just an example, but whichever way it is expressed there is always a powerful, unspoken vibe in this kind of connection that is palpable between the two people involved, because it awakens a latent creative force in themselves in addition to the usual feelings of attraction.

i have sappho 24 gemini in my 8th house.

it is on the midpoint of my sun and venus.

any special significance with an asteroid being on a midpoint?

24 gemini

"Surrounded by his favourite books, a middle-aged man reads and ponders at his desk."
Withdrawn, studious, and generous character endowed with exceptional intellectual capacities and vivid imagination. One is attracted to spirituality and research and pays little attention to worldly riches. Success can be achieved in ancient and modern science, literature, or education.

(oh ya nice website ami i am reading the articles. btw do you have north node in h8 gemini?)
