I have been playing around with the dwarf planet Ceres a bit and would like to get some information.

In my experience with Ceres she seems to manifest as the way we nourish (not nurture) others. Ceres (like eating your vegetables) gives people what they need (not necessarily what they want or ask for). In my case I have Ceres in Sagittarius 8th House. I feel the most useful to others when I am teaching them about spiritual, psychological, or mysterious "truths". I had to work very hard in my younger years to learn that listening is much more therapeutic than offering advise.

EDIT: The method we use to nourish others, may spring from our learned or preferred method of self nourishment.

So how are you nourishing to others, what service do you offer to mankind?

What Sign and House does your Ceres play in?

I'm textbook on this one, my Ceres is conjunct my Cancer MC - I loved bringing food to coworkers and it brought me joy knowing that they weren't hungry anymore thanks to me.
Not cooked food though, lots of Aries in my chart. I used to buy it from the store

Nice thread Xiiro,
Im also a classic textbook one on this, my Ceres in Pisces conjunct my Venus, conjunct my DC in the 7th house.

I am a bottomless pit of nurturing and caring for those around me whether it be relationships, partnerships or simply work related.
It took me a while to learn this about my self and not throw my "pearls to swine" as it were.
I now only tolerate pleasant, loving relationships in my aura. I will limit interpersonal connections with people who dont promote this in my life.

Whats funny is I have always worked with the public, and as a Physical Therapist I was clearly nuturing people, as a good Pisces Ceren would.

I strongly dislike rude people and have no tolerance for it nor do I like to participate in power struggles...balance and harmony is what my Spirit craves and I have a very diplomatic, mindful way of implementing it.

I am a lover not a fighter, though I will fight. And I love living by the ocean, it is nourishing to me. I can say that I am very aware of the need to nourish myself before I nourish others and that lesson was learned late in life and after much abuse by others. But learn I have. I tended to be the nurturer in early romantic relationships, priding myself in all I did for them...til I learned that I also need to be nurtured as well..and with this knowledge balance was struck within myself.
I have always had a very vivid imagination and a strong interest in fantasy, C.S Lewis and J.R Tolkien were my bestfriends growing up.

I can also add that when I am love with someone. I am able to be there absolute everything. I just love on so many different levels and I am aware of my partners every need, I make a point to learn them, and I make it a point to satisfy and nurture them. Its just how I roll.

ceres in aries 6th house. i remember looking at it before. someone said it could also mean our own mother which is also accurate for me.

just read it conrols or maybe rules(?) grief and loss..

Ceres in Aries people identify nurturance with autonomy and being granted independence. In turn, the Ceres in Aries individual nurtures others through promoting their self-determination and self-sufficiency. To feel truly loved, this person must receive these experiences from his or her significant others. Pathology or imbalance can occur when the child feels either dominated by the nurturer or pushed toward autonomy before he or she is ready to take on this responsibility.

Ceres in the sixth house symbolizes fulfilling one's needs through engaging in the day-to-day activities of maintaining the efficient functioning of one's family. There is a strong service aspect here especially in the areas of nutrution and health. A parent who works, or has values of the work ethic, is also symbolized by this position.

Mine is in Virgo in the 7th house. It's about three degress away from my Vertex. It makes almost no other aspects other than semi-sextiling my NN, semi-squaring my PoF and squaring Lilith and the MC.

And just like you'd think, it doesn't really factor in a lot in my life at all, which is probably the reason why Ceres is one of those asteroids that I pretty much always overlook. Which isn't to say I don't think I'm here to serve and contribute to the world at large in some way like everyone else; it's just that different areas of my chart reflect that more (North Node in the 6th house).

Cancer Ceres here, it conjuncts my Jupiter.

Right now it's in Pisces trining my Pluto. I currently make money being good at taking care of kids.

Ceres in Pisces conjunct Jupiter in 3rd house. I am a teacher, and I take it seriously, trying to nurture others through communication, sharing information etc.

One thing I want to add, I think Ceres is also a symbol of "feminine protectiveness".
And I love the warmth that is generated in Ceres-aspects.

EDIT:
Just been thinking of someone whose EROS is conjunct my CERES and Jupiter, and his Mars-Jupiter-conjunction opposes my CERES and Jupiter.

My Ceres is in Aqua in a very tight conjunction to my ASC and within 5 degrees from my Mars.
I don't know what it means.
Nurturing through mental offerings? I do love to teach. Is that what it is about?

Thanks, Ceri. I'm reading contradictory things online about Ceres and I can hardly find anything specific about other asteroids. Do you know of any good links?

I checked the links but they say nothing about the astrology of the asteroids' positions and aspects. Just the mythology. Which is fine but not what I need. For instance I am aware of Ceres as "Demetra" (the Greek name of "Demeter") and I know her story, but it tells me very little about what it means to have Ceres in tight conjunct to my ASC. I can speculate but I would rather not. Is there a good place to read about the astrology of the asteroids?

Bob Marks has some good interpretations: http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/Ceres21.1.html

This site has asteroid interpretations but only aspects to planets not to angles: http://members.wizzards.net/~magyan/aspects.htm

My Ceres is in Aries in the 2nd house, conjunct my POF exact and forming a grand trine with Jupiter (in Leo, 7th) and Neptune (in Sag, 11th)...

Not sure what it all means but I will find out eventually!

ETA: The grand trine is actually part of a kite with the Ceres/POF-Jupiter-Neptune grand trine and Jupiter and Neptune both sextile Pluto with Ceres/POF opp Pluto...

The astrological interpretation of the asteroids is usually based on the mythology.

For example: if the mythology of an asteroid has the elementh of nurturing, then it is concluded that the asteroid will have that meaning in astrology as well:

so Ceres = (mythologically: motherfigure, nurturing the earth as earthgoddess and humans = astrologically: nurturing, supportive influence

"Jupiter conjunct Ceres
You are likely to experience great benefit and mentoring through the mother-child relationship. There is a bond of shared belief and faith, shared intellectual ventures, and much enjoyment, appreciation and benefit within the relationship. There may be issues of loss and separation, and a recurring theme of letting go; an understanding that faith and trust in the other requires letting go. It is an ongoing teaching and growing experience on both sides; a very fortunate indication. You may well become a teacher and/or role model for others in resolving these issues within their own relationships. There is a high possibility of foreign travel shared with your mother or mentor."

Very true for me.

funnily at the day my parents married CERES was at the exact same position as my natal CERES and conjunct my Mum`s NN.
She has always seen it as her "career", her purpose in life to become a mother and provide the best "starting conditions" for her family.

Your welcome and you have the right idea Ceridwen, I don’t know why I didn’t just use this site myself for the interpretations!

quote:
Jupiter trine or sextile Ceres
You can be a very effective teacher or leader, as you have an easy ability to nurture independence and exploration, to guide the sense of adventure while keeping within safe limits. You can nurture intellectual growth as well as physical, and you tend to be expansive and magnanimous in your parent or teacher role. You likely foster independence in your students or protégés. Much benefit will come to you from the mother-child relationship; it is most likely expansively generous and encourages self-confidence and faith in life’s journey. You may feel a deep spiritual connection with the Earth and all of Nature, and find sustenance and peace from that source.

The bolded part is interesting because I have recently found that teaching is part of my path…

quote:
Neptune trine or sextile Ceres
You most likely have a psychic/spiritual bond with your mother and/or your offspring, which tends to enhance and enrich your spiritual awareness as well as your close relationships. You nurture the spiritual as well as the physical dimensions of those you care for, offering encouragement for their artistic and mystical development and expressions. Issues of separation and/or the need for personal sacrifice may impel you to greater understanding of your spiritual connections, and surrender to the universal mystery. There is very likely a karmic tie and possibly a deep soul recognition within your closest relationships.

I am not evolved enough for the Neptune interpretation though but I am getting there…

Ceres is right cozy and nestled to my Saturn in Taurus in the 12th. Almost and exact conjunction...........don't know what that means. Ceres Trines Vesta, Pluto and sextiles my moon. Cere squares my north node and MC in Aquarius.

Thanks for all the links.
Yes, I've read Bob Marks's Ceres in Aqua and it didn't make sense at all.
I also read a bunch of other stuff: some say Ceres is about grief and loss and Aqua is about dealing with them "mentally" (using your reasoning). I like this interpretation since I cannot be a Demeter figure having no kids (kids do like me though!).
What I wish I could find about is the tight conjunction to my ASC. It's too tight a conj to ignore. It's be great to see what that means.

Of course you can be a Demeter-figure!

Demeter was not just seen as the actual mother of Perspehone, but was considered the mother of EARTH.

As I see it, the ASC signifies that you embody Ceres-traits. You can very well have these maternal traits, though since this is Aquarius, the way you express your supportive, nurturing qualities is Aquarius-like.

Which means that probably you try to support and nurture others on a mental level, through analyzing, understanding and helping them with their intellectual development.

It`s probably not the most "feely" or "touchoriented" placemwent per se, but there can be an intuitive, yet mental understanding of the human psychology.

I'm also touchy-feely but this is my Taurus Moon in my 3rd (squaring my Mars Aqua)).
Thanks for helping me see it (the whole Ceres thing I mean).
I know for a fact that I am overprotective of people I care about. This is definitely a "mother-hen" trait. I can go at great length to protect those I love. Seriously. I have no clue where that trait came from, but it's there and I've seen it. You know, Demetra did go at great lengths about her daughter's death and for bringing her back. If it wasn't for her great grief and mourning that made the Gods pity her we would be having winter all year long!
Gosh, it's good I have no kids; imagine how "on their face" I would have been?! Poor kids. LOL
But I spoil them too. Kids tend to remember me and seek me out when I'm gone from their lives. I'm the aunt who will take them where their parents can't and at the same time be a parent to them, not just a reckless auntie.
Aw, shhucks.

Here is a site with some good Ceres keywords. I would think that with Ceres conj AC you would project these qualities to the world...
