In discussing Prosperina with a dear man who has her conjunct his Sun, I have come up with some thoughts. I think that Prosperina’s story is the ability to go from the natural world(light) to the underworld(dark). As such, she can be a bridge between both. Prosperina, also, has an innocence, as she was captured and brought to the underworld. She was not a natural citizen of the underworld. It was a forced imprisonment. This factor makes a big difference, in that she is like someone who visits a prison, but the prison is not her natural home. She may understand the workings of the prison, and it’s inhabitants, but is is not an integral part of the system, and all that implies. As such, she does not have the dark imaginings of underworld figures. She may bring the underworld and it’s dark musings to others, as all must understand it. However, she may bring it in the form of light, so as not to frighten more sensitive souls.

I've often felt like Clarice Starling for most of my life - the 'innocent' underworld visitor with the dark past, slowly coming to terms with being confronted with her own darkness, and being sucked into dramatic circumstances; having to prove my meddle in order to survive. I've probably also known, or encountered, a few more serial killers than the average bear for this reason - and not because I go looking for them.

And, equally curiously, I've never been a target. (Maybe it's the Arachne-ASC? Heh). They've always been fascinated with me - seeking my approval, even. (Proserpine is nearly exactly conjunct my Pallas in the 8H, too). Not in a stalkery-doing-something-to-prove-their-devotion kind of way, but in a sharing with me what they've done, and almost ... seeking forgiveness.

I unwittingly became a confessor to one in order to save someone else.

I guess that's where the Starling resonance comes in.

This is very interesting. Thanks for informing me of this asteroid pairing. One I've reviewed cursorily before, but never in any depth.

I have mine (10th) opp nessus (4th)sextile Jupiter virgo retro 8th house. So nessus would be seen as affliction, but sextile to Jupiter...

Proserpina, lady of transitions, other-worldly realms, and sacrifice

The asteroid Proserpina is named in honor of the goddess of the dead, consort of Pluto, she who was known as Persephone to the Greeks. As a goddess archetype, Proserpina constellates an energy that is often hard to fathom at first, because in the poetic myths Proserpina/Persephone seems to have little personality of her own. As the innocent maiden, abducted by Pluto/Hades into the underworld, she was scarcely distinguishable from her fertility goddess mother Ceres/Demeter. Proserpina is a tricky energy to deal with, though, because she is so hard to know in essence. You need to be still, and quietly open, to access Proserpina and work with her successfully. Ignore her altogether and you may find yourself plunging into situations you never expected or wanted; honor her and she will help you to find a way through the dark, a guide for your soul who aids your inner journey and ultimately, as a result, your path to individuation in the outer world.

Could be she symbolizes overcoming assumptions. Once she realizes that the underworld isn't so terrible, she tries to spread awareness.
