Linda Jones brings up the name Shankar as an alternative one for Shiva here, so what's your opinion on the uses of Shankar for that? Traditionally I'd think more of Ravi Shankar for that, but I'm not from the culture and many people may not think of either if ever even stumbling on an asteroid called (22817?) Shankar. "The other names for Shiva are Rudra and Shankar. Shiva and Shankar are used equally among the Hindus, and very often they are used together as in, a Shiv-Shankar Temple for example."
Shankar seemed to vibe well enough with the rest of the Siva/Rudra/Kaali/Parvati/Tara asteroids at a quick glance but of course appearances and 1-2 cases alone can be deceiving. Even if Shankar finally offered me the one in on the Indian asteroid front for around 15 Cancer which is a hot spot within the family, everybody else already having something else there. Until I was told about Shankar and that filled in the spot in my case as well. As said in the other thread, my draconic Shankar is also conjunct my Siva.
Wikipedia offers up the following.
"Shankar is a Sanskrit word meaning "Beneficent" or "Giver of Bliss". It generally refers to Lord Shiva.
It may also refer to:
Adi Shankara, Hindu philosopher (guru) of Advaita circa ninth century
in Brahma Kumaris religion where it means bodiless state of soul."
On the whole though, how does Shankar vibe with the rest? Siva, Rudra, Mahakala and now Shankar? Going by the name up there it would seem as if Shankar might be a, well, beneficent version to opt for.
