not to mention that astrologically 12.21.12 is fairly non-descript looking. personally 2010 looks a good deal more cataclysmic to me, with a grand cross including my uranus, tr uranus(conj jupiter) saturn and pluto ON my solar return...IP: Logged |

I just saw the 2012 movie last night..wow.
All I can say about that is I'm glad my 10 yr old boy didn't see it. He's already scared enough about what he hears of 2012 from his dad.Anyway.. I worked with a woman who said she was psychic. She said that she predicted the twin towers and tried to contact the FBI. Now I don't know how much of that I believe, but she said that she thinks it will be a polar shift. And she said it will happen at the end of 2011. Again, I don't take that for stone, but makes you think. I have also watched a few shows on the History Channel on it. Very interesting to hear all the different theories. That's what I try to tell my son when he get's all worked up about it. I tell him they are all theories..nothing more. With over 6.7 billion people, the idea of evolving (physically mentally) is diminished to almost nil. The population would need to not only be cut in half, but then in half again, and then in half again, and then in half again, and then in half again. Then guess what ? We will still be too populated to evolve all of humanity. We would have to have something major occur to change people's mindset or (something to kill the majority of people on the planet,) but with 6.7 billion people...IP: Logged |

Tell his Dad that he should be filling his son up with possibilities that are hopeful, proactive, and nurturing. anything else can cause damage that will last for decades and is a form of hysteria and mental abuse. Tell him- maybe this is a sign that he himself needs to find ways to find positive possibilities in his own life and needs to quit making his son a dumping ground!Sorry that just ticks me off. I'm a geomatics/geology major so I'm aware.The Earths magnetic field is whats protecting us from Solar Radiation. The problem is the damage it can do satellites and communications. The simplest answer is to turn off the satellites and restart once the storm is clear. The good news is a magnetic storm only lasts for a couple days. Every igneous rock has the direction of the magnetic field and we can compare the lat/long of where the rock was. Thats one of the reasons we know that the continents where all connected at one time. A magnetic reversal happens every 500,000 years nothing to be worried about. IP: Logged |

The last one occurred 780,000 yrs ago, a little bit off it was the Brunhes–Matuyama reversal.If you click the link thats how the magnetic reversal looks like on the seafloor.

Magnetic reversals and pole shifts are two completely different things. It would be a pole shift you would want to be more concerned about. The inner core is rotating within the earth and is generating electricity vary similar to a rotating generator. The magnetic field is a result of the rotation and movement of the inner core and has nothing to do with pole shifting. For reasons we don't fully understand, the magnetic field shifts or moves. But that is because of the inner core movement not because of the axial tilt or pole reversal. The magnetic field exits the South Pole and re-enters in the North Pole. That means the declination is 0 degrees at the South pole and 360 Degree in the North Pole in a normal reversal. Any lava following out of a volcano would have a record of its declination when it erupted out of a volcano, we compare the declination of the rock and the present declination to determine where it was. Towards a certain degree the magnetic field can have an effect because the magnetic field does help protects us from incoming radiation, but the bulk of that work is done by the magnetosphere and ionosphere. A pole shift and axial tilt would be devastating, some portions of the earth would have permanent winter/summer. I wish I could say more, I'm not a geophysicist, geophysicist are the geologists that specialize in the earths magnetic field. ---------------------------------------
