In the last interview with Assange, he said that it is the journalists who are putting out the info, who are really in danger ie Glenn Greenwald.anyway no fear mongering, they basically told people what a lot already had an idea about, and what a lot of 'rose colored glasses' people were in denial of. fearmongering is what the media does to normal people ie'those ppl hate u so much and want to blow u up, so we must start world war 3 before the do!...etc...or stuff like that, don't watch the news from a while. He has definitely added to the hate-and-fear campaign. Your twenty-something joke aside, NRNR, if he could hack into obama's private correspondence he could expose what is not known but constantly speculated about. No such true expose ofanything that might clarify anything has been made. The end effect is just heightened paranoia and outrage.Coincidence? I suspect not. IP: Logged |

We are going to have to agree to disagree Cat, as i feel you are mixing apples with oranges. (am not trying to be mean like others, but this is my opinion)Given his numbers and his horoscope etc etc i do believe he really is someone who lives in the mind, and won't mind some sort of self sacrifice to benefit others he has no relationship with (no coincidence that both the 30 and the 12 of the hanged man/self sacrifice person both fall into the realm of a 3, is it?) Also you say fear whatever machine, neither i or most people my age feel this way...maybe in the US it is worst, if anything most people have the 'i knew it!' moment...then u move on, so what fear? anyone way too attached to materialistic things, will be scared from ANYTHING...so if anything Mr.Snowden did most people around the world a favor actually. and i have no doubt tht if things don't change, not in 10 years but even in 20 years his "ex employers"will try and assassinate him, as they never quit...so nothing to do for the other side, other than to not quit. simply that, no fear mongering, if people no longer care and aren't feeling the fear...we need more people as brave as him. Brazil is already working on making the most encrypted email they can make, and i'm sure many countries will follow so good for us IP: Logged |

We need something besides SSL, which is what the NSA developed and sold to the rest of us.IP: Logged |

Yep, we were assured SSL was secure, but it was all a lie. That was just how the NSA accessed us all.IP: Logged |

Spies and governments go hand in hand. No problem, NoRain, with disagreement, (in fact i love discussong differences)... i don't know how old you are, but when i was younger the spies were already there and we already knew. Yearsago a friend in tge internet security field agreed with my assumption that there's no program that can keep the govt out.On the one hand i agree, no cause to be cowed...on the other hand, where does the uproar and concern for "privacy" come from? It does sink into your cpnsciousness that we have been "robbed" or "toyed" with and that affects the whole energy of all our interactions. I don't have an opinion on Snowden's sincerity really but it is actually meaningful that he xlaims the president is vulnerable like everyone else. Becauae the president xefinitely has people watching his every mive, and is much more likely to be under real threat than most of us. But that little "finepoint" has been compleyely overlooked in the rush to make out that obama is the mastermind of all evils. I will be called "obama lover" for pointing this out, but it is far worse for people to focus all the fear snd blame on one person than to see the bigger picture IP: Logged |

True, i'm also not buying that all these leaders of allied countries didn't know that the spying is happening, because if not, then either they are dumb, or they are claiming not to have known as they think us their people are that dumb.Suprisingly Cat, a lot of people are 'surprised' that it happened/is happening/will happen......all while i gloat to some people i know that 'i told u so'....

They don't spy the same way we do. Almost everyone uses SSL (that the NSA secretly created), so the NSA has access to virtually everything. No competition, really. IP: Logged |

i know that...i meant if the so called EU leaders really thought that the US isn't spying on them and their citizens then they really are the looney toons that they behave like at times, and not just putting on an act of complete madness lol...but they are putting on an act.notice how Russia is the country that said the least more like a "yeah we know, we all do that to each other" kind of attitude... LOL i don't think the EU has the means to spy like both Russia and the US do on the rest of the world...but you got 'caught' coz someone on your side had ethics, and was sick of people who do no good wanting to know what his neighbor had for lunch and where he went shopping that day.... if anything u had someone that really cares about his compatriots ...and maybe not now but 50 years from now it'll be a source of pride to the US that Edward Snowden came from there... (and if things don't change, a source of pride for Russia that they took him in and protected him from the psycho's runing his country atm...) IP: Logged |

yech 43...there i fixed it!!I MEANT...totally, except this just goes to where i think, US citizens are as much 'victims' of a global elite, like the rest of the world....they don't want anyone considered 'middle class' to think for themselves, or to come up with idea that would really 'free' themselves from being dependent on the present system (big conglomerates, banks etc etc...ppl's 'dream' is to work for one of these and get paid well) and the idea of spying on a normal citizen is just to know how to dis-empower them best...and nothing to do at all with security...who believes that anymore? though bad idea with going to Germany, i think the largest US base in Europe is there, and i would expect anything.
