Denying/ Invalidating reality: Invalidating distorts or undermines the victim’s perceptions of their world. Invalidating occurs when the abuser refuses or will not acknowledge reality.

The above two methods relates to the rhyme;

mind-numbing and repetitive nature of performing karmic duties and is captured in the final line of each verse, indicating that whatever you were doing, or wherever your mind had wandered to, reality was never far away with the weasel to pop you alert again.

The Eagle in question was a London tavern; clearly the lyricist was describing the consequences of spending too little time at the cobbler's bench and too much on a barstool.See how cleverly negative emotion is being denied?

Even if a few of them would go overboard and holler on negative emotions, they are ostracised.
Some argue that to pop the weasel is also a slang meaning to pawn one's coat. This makes sense in light of the second verse of the kids' version:

That's the way the money goes," etc.

Afterall, the search for a scapegoat is the easiest of all hunting expeditions.That might include the below tactic.

Blaming the victim: This tactic is a powerful means of putting the victim on the defense while simultaneously masking the aggressive intent of the abuser.

Empty words: The abuser can turn on the charm and tell you exactly what you want to hear: “I love you,” “you’re so special to me,” “you’re so important to me,” etc. The problem is they are just words, backed up by nothing.

Refusing to take responsibility for his behavior, for the relationship or for your reactions to it. He somehow makes you responsible instead.

Indirect aggressive abuse: Name-calling is direct and obvious, but an underhanded way to make it much less obvious is to drop the angry tone of voice that usually accompanies it, and disguise the insult as teaching, helping, giving advice, or offering solutions.

All the above methods are pretty much summed up in the following Rhyme.

And they are certainly rife amongst society where atrocities are committed. Ironically, the very last places they should be.

To paraphrase freely in mythological jargon: The Divine Sophia cuts a deal with the archon overlord, allowing him to have his minions bind human actions by fetters of some kind.
