I've taken melatonin, but it didn't help. I've taken a lot of meds for sleep but I get bad side effects. ------------------ You've been taught that there is something wrong with you and that you are imperfect, but there isn't, and you're not. IP: Logged |

GooberzLLF,Bad reactions to medications (including natural remedies) are very common with ME/CFS/FM. So be careful. Also, allergiues to valerian are common, I get ghastly headaches from it. It is also risky to take hormones such as melantonin unless you are under excellent medical supervision. It is also possible in one subset of patients to have very bad reactions to exercise, which can bring on worse pain and brainfog. Exercise will only help if you are not in this subset and exercise lightly. Mediballs, tai chi, yoga, pilates and other stretching and toning exercises are better than aerobic exercise. My friend swears by her Mediball and her osteopath, who prescribes exercises for her. I do know lots of people with FM who have recovered, or improved greatly. Unfortunately, there is no universal cure, and what helps one person sometimes makes another one even sicker. We're all different. Don't give up, keep (carefully and sensibly)trying new things, get as much rest as you can, and eventually something will work, or you'll recover naturally as the disease runs its course. Good luck! Picses Moon~ You are *so* knowlegable about FM ....as well as CFS, as I know someone who has it. I really do have awful reactions to drugs, but, luckily, I can do some forms of exercise. Everyone always says to do aerobic, but that always makes me worse. I do pilates (which you also mentioned!) and it is much more helpful. It is great to know someone who's so well informed! Thanks for caring, for taking time out to help someone out. I am beginning to think that being a Knowflake is all about that. ------------------ You've been taught that there is something wrong with you and that you are imperfect, but there isn't, and you're not. GOOBERZ....I took Melatonin once just to see what it was all about. I had the most intense vivid dreams I ever had. And they were all so BRIGHT. Far from sleeping like I should, after the dreams I was wide awake even if it was 3:00 in the morning. I agree, one day I think you will overcome this. Once you figure out the reasons behind it, you'll start to see a difference. GOOBERZ....don't you just being a K' ------------------

GooberzLLF,Thank you, you are very sweet. I was editor of a magazine for people with CFS/ME/FM, and worked closely with an amazing lady with Lyme disease (a Gemini) who is doing her PhD on the connection between physical illness and psychological symptoms. As someone who's had to struggle with chronic health problems, I agree with YIVY - at some point, it all starts to make sense on some cosmic level, and when that happens your health does begin to improve. I'm not completely well yet, but I believe I will be one day. Funny thing is, once I *really believed* it, I started to feel better! I don't believe getting sick is some horrible karmic punishment because you ran over a deer or something. It's a gift. IP: Logged |

Picses Moon~ I absolutely agree that sickness is not a punishment. It can sometimes be a blessing in disguise. Keep helping people like you are....I think you have a real gift.------------------ You've been taught that there is something wrong with you and that you are imperfect, but there isn't, and you're not. GooberzLLF,You know, I really do think getting sick has changed my life for the better. It forced me to take time out and really think about where I was going. Most of the people I know with health issues consider themselves blessed by it. IP: Logged |
