Grey hair is the hardest to hold a colour base. White hair.. it's like throwing a green sock in a load of white laundry.. it bleeds, and the overall colour takes on the shade of the base colour they use to determine the pigment shade. So if you use an ash shade ( to counteract rednes) it has a blue or green base to it, therefore it comes up tinged muddy brown/green. You can use a lighter blond shade. Stay away from ash, because of the above mentioned problem. Plus, hair will always seem darker, until it oxidises, the shaft cutcle closes, and it is washed out a few times. It should fade.. hopefully not too much, but after he first few washes, use a colour keep shampoo. The best thing you can do is bring a good quality ( lots of sunlight) picture, and have a consultation with a professiojnal. Tell them you'd like what you had naturally, and they can determime the course of action. Important; ask them the base shade ( along with any highlights they go with) and then if you choose to maintain the results at home, you know what they used, and can approximate. You can use champagne, and other cooler shades, without going green/muddy. You can use 'natural' ( with the base pigments being yellow and blue) There are ten stages of basic hair pigments Ten being the lightest, one being the darkest. Aim for an eight .... if you want to be light and still cover grey. Describe it to me more, and I can get into the theory of hair colour if you'd like.IP: Logged |

hi sthenri, I am sorry I am not a experts of hair.but I used to work in the salon...then not any more ,cause who like to play so much with their hair at the end ,they don't have so much hair ,you know what I means. may I suggest you afew thing ,I would say ordain it .or at least try to accpet it at a part of nature beauty from you. in my opinion white hair is pretty if you are a nice person.because beauty come from deep down inside you ,so I am sure you are very beautiful even you have a few white hair. I have a friend ,he is a very goodlooking guy, youth he is only 25 years young,he got quite a few white hair of some reason,we don't know,he is a very nice person,he loves helping people everyday. So he is just as handsome as he is . by the way ,diet, also can be a reason why hair are turning grey or white.nutrition is very important.my father don't have many white hair at all, because he got good nutrition on his diet. if you still has some doubt, then I will say try some natural herbal hair dyes.don't go for the chemical product . loves14stars IP: Logged |

Natural or chemical, they will all have a formula... A combintation of pigments which make up its unique colour. I do not know the retention properties/permanency of vegetable dyes, sorry....IP: Logged |

*deep sigh* all I can do is sympathize with you. I am blessed, I mean cursed with a grey/white streak. Often people say that they think it would be "cool" to have one, but it isn't, it ages a person. So I've have recently gone back to dying my hair which grows so fast, and within a week the white roots in that streak are are a show'in...........driving me nuts. I then use a crayon type thingy to touch up the roots. I hate the way my hair feels dyed. I must remember to condition, condition, condition.......(yeah right, like that is ever gonna happen) Best of luck to you. Have you used the Feria hair color? From what I understand it adds the most shine, and they do have some amazing colors. IP: Logged |

*hate to put a damper on it* Feria isn't actually recommended for white/grey hair. Up to thirty percent grey. The problem is it is so sparkly, that it won't properly cover greys. L'Oreal Excellence/Preference are great for grey hair coverage, in home hair colour. Also Clairol L'Image. I only know Canadian colours, I understand there is a difference though....but St.Henri is in Montreal....IP: Logged |

The Legend Long ago, old Mr. He became lost in the forest. Years later, those who found him were astonished. The old man's hair had turned from white to black. In order to sustain himself, he lived on the root of the common wild vine Polygoni Multiflori. He Shou Wu also known as Fo Ti Today, the plant bears his name, He Shou Wu (Old Mr. He). In the West this root is known as He Shou Wu or Fo Ti. This herb when ingested helps restore color to grey hair and halt hair loss. The Chinese have long relied on the he shou wu tonic, taking it long-term to encourage optimum health. For many people it enhances the growth and color of hair as it restores the thick, rich-bodied hair they had in their younger days. Gray hair gradually returns to its original color. hi sthenri, check it out , Randell had once posted this. IP: Logged |

one of my aunts a light colored redhed, started graying, she bought one of those streaking kits, with the cap and crotchet hook to pull the hair thru, and had me streak her hair.It gives the appearance on her of blonde highlights. IP: Logged |

St. Henri, I can relate. I found my first white hair a week before my 19th birthday. I still don't have tons of it, but they're there, especialy up front where people can see them! I have dark hair, so they really stand out. My mother went gray early, too. Is this hereditary for you as well? I don't have any advice for you on coloring. I color my hair about three times a year in my original color just to even it out a little. The grays poke through within a week. No advice, I'm sorry. Just wanted to let you know you're not alone. BTW... do you mind telling us how old you are? IP: Logged | |
