Aum or Om is written as ॐ in sanskrit.

i thought the symbol (which is actually a written script in sanskrit language) would be as famous as the name.

anyway, so anyoneknows that sceince behind the power of aum or om?

I think you could get pretty esoteric with the power of Om. Om I believe is supposed to resonate with shiva the creator and welcomes god energy into the body.

Sounds is known to have a therapuetic effect, I believe chanting, beacuse it resonates the entire body from the inside out, makes that effect even stronger. How it works scientifically, no one knows yet. I'm sure it releases endorphins and puts the brain in an "alpha wave" state as meditation does.
