Anyone familiar with it? I ate some citrus fruits the other day and my skin broke out in an itchy rash that quickly went away after I threw out all this citrus fruit I bought.

I wondered about it so I googled "citrus fruits breaking out in hives" and I read about histamine intolerance and it really clicked. I think that's the problem I am having with certain foods. Fruits have histamine and I have problems with a lot of different ones, and onions, all causing various negative effects.

Anyone have any experience with histamine intolerance? I have to take Benadryl and that helps, especially with the itching.

I seem to have the same thing....I've had to stop eating grapefruit, tomatoes, apples, pineapple, kiwi, strawberries.....actually anymore I just avoid them all together and eat veggies instead. I get migraines and have had times I've broken out in hives like you.

I even seem to be bothered by the gums they use to thicken products. I thought I had a lactose intolerance so I tried lactose free milk, still had issues. I tried coconut milk, still had issues, tried cashew milk and it was the same so I'm just not going to eat anything like that either.
It's worth it because I feel better when I don't eat these foods.

Did you narrow it down to just those fruits?

Hmm.. I think some of those foods may have bothered me in the past not sure. Thank goodness they don't now, as I am vegan lol. Ah yeah.. I seem to have problem with those thickeners too. Didn't realize that may have been what it was until now. Only thing I eat that has anything like that in it would be vegan (coconut milk) icecream though
