Oh, peanut butter... I don't like eating it straight from the jar or on bread, but I like it in sauces. The recipe for my favourite sauce: Finely chop an onion, or 2-3 small purple shallots - I like shallots better, their scent and taste are more mellow. Some garlic too (if desired). Sauté them in a pan with olive oil until fragrant. Some light sweet soy sauce (not the thick, dark salty ones). Regular dipping soy sauce will do just fine. Half a jar of peanut butter and a bit of water. Put all of those ingredient into the pan. Mix well. Then stir in some Shacha sauce (get this at the Asian grocery stores), it's quite spicy so remember to taste and check as you go. This is the one I use, but that's only coz it's widely available. Any other brand will do, I think. Add some sugar to "soften" the taste if needed. Then add thinly sliced bell pepper, finely chopped herbs of your choice. I love parsley and spring onions. This sauce is great on beef, chicken, boil/stir fried greens (bok-choy and chinese brocoli go very well with this sauce), or just plain noodles. IP: Logged |

At my fav Chinese place, I tried peanut chicken. It was awful lol. It had a undeniable thick taste of peanut butter. I love peanut butter sandwichs, cookies and fudge but not on my chicken ------------------ Partial truth~the seeds of wisdom~can be found in many places...The seeds of wisdom are contained in all scriptures ever written… especially in art, music, and poetry and, above all, in Nature.
