Chirp

It cracks me up that the music an amorous male cricket makes is called "chirping"

Fun facts:

There are four types of chirping. A loud calling song is used to attract females. A soft courting song is used when a female cricket is near. An aggressive chirping is set off when another male is coming near. And another chirp is used for a brief time after successful copulation.

According to Dolbear's law, it is actually possible to know the temperature outside (Fahrenheit) by counting the number of a cricket's chirps in 14 seconds and adding 40 to that number.

WoW Juni! That was something. I am glad to hear there are others observing insects, birds etc as much or more than i do. I had started to get a feeling that i am getting a little weirdo.

Sort of the same principle that the
golden/silver rules work on.

A negative and a positive.

Nice work

Love&Light, I`m just a buggy kind of gal

I love nature in all her shapes , colors and forms. It makes me feel good to know others are out observing the intriguing life forms and finding joy in it.

This reminds me of a new ad that is coming on T.V in this place. Its about paints and the concept is that different colours fly from nature like from trees, kakakua bird, sea etc and fill the colour boxes and people use them to paint the houses. It is so exuberant - the ad. Watching the colours fly from each part of nature to the boxes, i liked the ad the very first time i saw it. And one person juggles these things like a magician.

If a bird poops on you it's good luck.

It is actually a nursery rhyme-

See a pin and pick it up,Good luck will follow you all day!
See a pin and let it lay, Bad luck you'll have all the day!

And yes I can vouch for the bird poop good luck thing too.I was the topper when the bird pooped before the results were yet to be announced!

Next right eye twictching is bad for wommen and left eye good for women..where the reverse is true for men.

I have had pretty bad and good experiences with it.Im downright scared when my right eye twitches.

And yes a spider crawling on us means good luck and new clothes!

If you encounter a cobra with its hood raised and lloked at you..It is a sign of a blessing.

Regarding mating I have seen two lizards do it and was told that I would marry a man who is an Expert at it!lol

It is also said that is is Good omen to see a Garbage Truck!

Next is Broken mirror which indicates
Bad luck.

Today an interesting thing happened. A crow hit one of my colleagues on the head and neck portion from the back as it was flying by. He was just outside the building and got a little hurt behind the ear. It seems little blood oozed out. I wonder whether it was its beak. He went to the dispensary and had an antiseptic applied. Anyways dear folks out with your crow beliefs please.

I got interested so scrolled the internet. And found some interesting local theories.

Some over here say it is inauspicious. And that one should take a bath. It is connected with Saturn (Crow is considered to be vehicle of Lord Saturn). So generally associated with pay back time and saturn 71/2 year cycle.

What are the beliefs in your places? I think any 'theories' would be pretty interesting to know.

Sorry L&L, I dunno any superstitions about crows.

The recent one I heard that has me is, "It's 'lucky' if you wear red panties." How you define "lucky" is up to you lol.

And no, not tested or approved yet.

Saturday a cricket hopped it's way into my dinning room floor. -.-

It couldn't of gotten in through the windows because I have window screens installed... so, it must of gotten in when I let my dog in/out of the backyard.

But still, afterwards he'd have to hop a few stairs, hop pass the kitchen, and into my dinning room... which is ridiculous. Maybe it was a Sagittarius cricket eh?

Hearing things my azz! I knew I wasn't crazy. The chirping was closer and louder than usual. bleh
