With rarest brief exceptions
(like usually measured in minutes, not hours or days);
the Christmas season has usually been the most depressing miserable sad disturbing times holiday wise.
So BAH HUMBUG!
New years eve sucks just about as bad.

I love the holidaze

No matter what life brings me, Christmas washs it all away in the glow of good will, beautiful sights and celebration of the Christ`s birth (I know it`s not the 25th but ...)

I wish you all the best this season and always Lexx.

Lucky you
Thank you for the well wishes.
I do not object to folks loving it all.
I wish I had reason to.
Sigh
I see all the love but its not for me.
I see all the pretty lights and cry.
I see people with kids all excited and cry.
I see lovers so in love, and I cry.
I miss my grandparents and great grandparents,
the last folks who made it really special safe loving real.
I miss my son who ignores me because I did not go to his wedding because I was ill.
I have not even been permitted to meet my almost grandson born in April.
I might go hang out with the poor folks at the food pantry since I am one of them too.
Or just try to ignore it all.
My ex to be got an invite from his sister to stay in Texas betwixt Xmas Eve and New Years Eve.
I wish he would go rather than hang out with old gloom and doom me.
She is wealthy and wanting to pay for it all, plane fare and all for him.
Being alone during the holidays is something I have come to expect anyhow.
Usually too infirm to go out anyhow.
All I'd really like is for someone to hold and to hold me, say "I love you", that would be enough.
Sigh
But they who cared/care are all either long dead or far away or busy doing their own things.

Well, I know that this might not make you feel better, Lexx, and I don't pretend that I can relate to the situation that you are in right now or that I "know" what it's like (to do so would be dishonest), but just know that there are many people here who care about you and who enjoy your wisdom and insight. I've only been here for a short time, but I appreciate your posts and am glad that you're with us.

So, even if we can't be with you in person due to distance, practical things (like money and travel arrangements and whatnot), other stuff like that, please know that many of the Lindaland folks here will be thinking of you.

also, slightly off topic, but that lettering on the word "humbug" is really cool--what font is it exactly?

looks really old and "English-y" :-)

I chose the blue roses because I find blue peaceful and soothing, and wish for you to experience peace and healing. I chose the candles because the color white often makes me think of hope, and I hope that you will be able to have hope this Christmas season.

Take care, and have a good evening! And thanks again for all that you contribute!

Here's something funny to cheer you up:

(This is from the British "Blackadder" comedy series; it's a parody of "A Christmas Carol". The premise: this Blackadder is actually good, unlike his predecessors (the other Blackadder characters; the series takes place over many different eras, each with its own Blackadder). He is SO good that people take advantage of him. So, he ends up being bad instead. Hugh Laurie, Rowan Atkinson, Stephen Fry, and others are in it):

When that happens, don't move it. You will move the bad code with it. Close it and start a new one. That happened to me in Astrology 2.0 with a Tuxedo Mask string I closed.

I'm trying not to be. Christmas is usually my favourite holiday, but for the past two years, it hasn't been. Last year, I perked up on the big day, but otherwise... this year, it just feels too soon.

I was hoping to get out to buy Christmas cards today, but I was up all night last night, until gone 2pm this afternoon, when I fell asleep on the couch. I was waiting for another family member to wake up, and later found out, when I woke up before it got dark, that she didn't want to go out that late. *screams inwardly* (I complained about that for a while, and then went back to sleep on the couch - and I really wanted to be out there today).

This whole week has been weird; I hate being up all night. I haven't been sleeping well, and I'm really not in the spirit of things, except for humming a christmas song without thinking, the other night.

One is dead.
The rest are either homophobes,
and Christian pushy/judging,
and or snobby wealthy,
I am the poor, non Christian, gay loving,
shame and embarrassment to them.
I do not measure up to their standards.
Oh well
their loss.

Pretty much same from the rest of my family up to including death threats about my associations with gay and pagan folks.
