Well, you guys succeeded in getting the thread moved, at any rate. *facepalm*In other news, here is something that I actually find interesting and beautiful. http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2012/03/bloom-28000-potted- flowers-installed-at-the-massachusetts-mental-health-center/ As I've worked in numerous mental health facilities, and worked with residents who made absolutely no sense whatsoever but were some of the kindest (and honestly the most interesting) people I've ever met, I really liked this piece. I find it amazing. IP: Logged |

The original article that I found in Artforum had more pictures, one of the swimming pool filled with (I think) purple flowers of some sort. I have the actual magazine somewhere around the house, but I don't remember where it went to, lol. It's an older piece (2010 maybe), but so beautiful on so many levels, to my way of thinking.

I think that what really clicks for me with this is that she's right--there really aren't a ton of fresh flowers in psychiatric hospitals. When I worked in mental health facilities, I would always go way out to decorate for holidays, and put their artwork up on the walls. Occasionally someone would pick flowers and we would put them in a vase in the office, but I really do love this piece for that reason. IP: Logged |

Thats an interesting observation. its soo true. At most you'll see some wack painting on a wall. And a few fake flowers.. other than that, the hospitals keep things very plain and 'clinical' loooking... You sound very Venusian though . I too have a thing for flowers and decor.. its like therapy for me. I get really into it...My surroundings can affect me in either a good or bad way.. so i try to keep my home, workplace, decorated with some flowers. Or some type of art piece. IP: Logged |

The only aspect made to my Aries Venus is an opposition from Pluto, haha. I'm pure Neptune and Pluto. But I know what you mean about feeling very affected by your environment. I like to have nifty stuff and pretty colors in my home, and bright paintings or photography done by my mom and my father in-law hanging throughout the house. I can't abide by cheap-looking, tacky, or barren decor in my living space, lol. (Hm. I do sound kind of Venusian, don't I?) IP: Logged |
