Mercury
Conjunct – Indicates a direct linkage of the unconscious mind and the conscious reasoning mind making them intellectually aware of their emotional nature and responses to others. They will also be hypersensitive about what others think of them. They have a unique capability to access information stored within their unconscious mind. They will be very interested and involved in their domestic and family affairs.

Sextile – this aspect indicates that their mind and emotions are in alignment giving a good memory and a practical mental approach toward life. They tend to put their thoughts into action, in their profession, and personal life. Their domestic family life is well organized and supported by good communications. They are tactful with others, unconsciously being aware of other’s thoughts and feelings.

Square – produces nervousness with the tendency for their unconscious mind and automatic responses to interfere with their conscious, reasoning processes. Their thinking is tied too much to their past conditioning and interferes with their objectivity and open-mindedness. They tend to be chatterboxes, never focusing on anything significant. They tend to talk just to hear the sound of their own voices. They have difficultly in communicating clearly with others, although those close to them may have learned to filter out their ranting and only relate to the important parts.

Trine – indicates an excellent memory and a harmonious working between their conscious and unconscious minds. They have an abundance of good common sense, and communicate easily with others. They generally are fluent in speech and expression and make very good conservationists.

Oppose – produces conflict between their emotional nature and their reasoning ability. Their communications are often ruled more by their emotions than their head, which can create relationship problems for them. Others have difficulty understanding where they are coming from half the time, because their communications are erratic and tied to their feelings, not reality. They also have the tendency to talk you to death.

Venus
Conjunct – indicates a highly emotional response to beauty and harmony giving them the ability to effectively capture the emotional component within their artistic endeavors. This aspect confers sensitivity, tact, and a very affectionate nature.

Sextile – this aspect favors good personal relationships, and a happy and successful marriage. Men with this aspect have the ability to empathize with woman, while woman with this aspect tend to display unusual grace and sweetness, and exhibit a natural charm that makes them popular with others. They tend to be at ease in their social relations and communications with friends and others. They are very close to their families, particularly their siblings.

Square – indicates that they tend to bestow their affections widely and indiscriminately, creating problems in their personal life. They aren’t able to discriminate very well between positive romantic and sexual involvements. They can be easily taken advantage of and manipulated by others. Their early conditioning didn’t contain much real love and nurturing, and they have no idea how to care and be cared for by others.

Trine – indicates a pleasant disposition, particularly in woman, because it enhances their natural beauty and gentleness. They tend to have a soothing effect on others. They have some artistic abilities, and a good taste in food and attire. Their voice has a pleasing melodious quality to it that pleases others.

Oppose – indicates a tendency to feel isolated and uncared for, resulting in them trying constantly to get expressions of love from others, creating relationship problems. They can be very self-indulgent, in food, material comforts, and sexual requirements. Their can be problems in their relationships due to their mother’s interference.

Mars
Conjunct – this aspect causes them to wear their emotions on their sleeves, resulting in frequent emotional outbursts. This is represented by the child who throws a tantrum whenever they feel put upon. In later life, these energies can be used to accomplish a great deal, if they can get control of their selves. Even then, they will always react to life with great intensity.

Sextile – indicates an abundance of energy and the emotional force necessary to carry out their projects to successful completion. While not looking for trouble, they will fight hard and unceasingly to protect their family if they are in danger. Much of their energy is directed toward improving their home and domestic conditions.

Square – indicates a very volatile nature, and a hair trigger temper. They often are too independent for their own good. Their early life was marked by problems and disagreements with their parents, where they were not able to get their way, and now as adults resent any interference to plans or actions. There is nothing subtle about them; they plow head-first into life, daring anyone to get in their way. They may suffer stomach problems later in life, from suppressing anger when they were younger.

Trine – They tend to be active emotionally and to have an abundance of psychic energy. While their emotions are very strong, they are well controlled and used constructively in their lives. They will fight for what they feel is right in life and will back their imagination with willful action. They experience life intensity jumping in completely, not withholding anything.

Oppose – this aspect indicates the potential for real problems by intensifying their emotional nature. They can’t seem to hold their tempers, going off over the slightest event. There is also danger here of substance abuse, particularly alcohol, which reduces further what little self-control they process. They often have problems throughout their life stemming from arguments with their parents. Unless they can learn self-control, their life will be a rocky one.

Jupiter
Conjunct – indicates that their emotions are tied in to their feelings of sympathy and generosity, and concern for others. They will tend to work for the betterment of all those in need. They have a healthy and generous supply of energy that they use in their work for others.

Sextile – this aspect produces generosity and emotional sympathy, particularly within their family. They are willing to spend what is necessary in order to make their home a place of beauty and comfort. They have strong religious or spiritual feelings, which may lead to devout and idealistic religious practices. They generally have an optimistic and cheerful nature. They genuinely like people, and are honest in their dealings with everyone. The aspect confers a strong imagination, which coupled with their mental ability produces good creativity and insight.

Square – this aspect is one that indicates emotional excess. Whatever Jupiter does, it usually overdoes, in a big way. They often behave foolishly generous and can be easily taken advantaged of by others. They are inclined to be imprudent and extravagant in their lifestyle, far over their ability to pay for it. They may have long-standing disagreements with religion due to early life experiences and disappointments and they are unable to balance out their religious feelings. And their health may be poor due to over-indulgence in food and drink.

Trine – Many religious figures have this aspect. It confers a great generosity of spirit and a kind disposition towards others. They are devoted to their parents, home, family, and groups they are involved with. They have expansive imaginations, and use them to assist others.

Oppose – indicates a tendency to be carried away by impulses. They have problems discriminating between those in need of their care, and those just using them. There can be problems due to self-indulgence and just plain laziness. They often block their own growth because of their emotional attachment to their early conditioning.

Saturn
Conjunct – indicates that their emotions are tied to those things in their life that have great sentimental meaning too them. Their emotions are tied very tightly to their past life experiences and memories. They will often appear somewhat somber to others.

Sextile – produces patience and practicality in their work and life. They always keep their affairs in good order. They tend toward keeping the status quo rather than creating new structures. Saturn’s energy tends to take the sparkle out of their spontaneous responses to life.

Square – Saturn pulls a wet blanket over your emotional outlook with this aspect. Often the root of this can be found in their early childhood conditioning, and it is difficult for them to overcome the resulting bleak outlook on life. They will find it difficult to express themselves in a loving manner until they come to grips with whatever is blocking their natural loving selves. Others will tend to avoid them, not wanting to be brought down by their negativity, decreasing their opportunities to have meaningful interactions with others.

Trine – Saturn brings caution and conservatism with this aspect. There is a great deal of common sense, organizational ability and the ability to withstand hardships if required to achieve their goals in life. This aspect reduces the need for personal comfort, replacing it with a self-disciplined austere approach to life. Personal dignity and a sense of responsibility are highlighted here.

Oppose – indicates the unwillingness to release structures in their life that they have outgrown and that are no longer productive to their self-growth. Early childhood conditioning may have instilled a rigid set of attitudes that they can’t seem to get beyond. They suffer emotional depression from their inability to overcome their conditioning. Their ability to responds spontaneously is hampered by their conditioning. They will have problems in relationships due to their never growing beyond their early experiences. They tend to be their worst enemies in life, although they have difficulties seeing themselves as the problem, preferring to blame others.

My poor sweet hubby has Moon Square Saturn. That explains a LOT of things!

P.S. Randall, where is your moon? My son has a Cappy Sun and Virgo Rising with an Aries Moon. Thanks!

What's the orb of influence for the Moon?

If it's over 5d, I may have no major aspects to my Moon except square Ascendant.

If you mean in the natal chart, usually +/-
10 degrees is used for the Moon.

Ohhhh -
In that case, my Moon's all kinds-a jacked up...
I've Moon Square Venus by 5°20
Square – indicates that they tend to bestow their affections widely and indiscriminately, creating problems in their personal life. They aren’t able to discriminate very well between positive romantic and sexual involvements. They can be easily taken advantage of and manipulated by others. Their early conditioning didn’t contain much real love and nurturing, and they have no idea how to care and be cared for by others.
Hm. Some of that is right. I probably can be easily taken advantage of, at least initially, but then I think that either my Aqua Moon in the 3rd steps in and tears the other to pieces (prolly aided by my Scorp Asc & 12th House Pluto...it's eerie, really - I don't know where it comes from); or, barring that, my Fishy Sun just leaves.
And, due to other chart factors, I'm not that indiscriminate in where I distribute my affections...I think I have too much fixed in my chart for that. If anything, I'm just a bit odd in where they fall, which might be due to my
Moon Sextile Uranus 6°15
Sextile – They are able to identify and release the conditioning of their past in order to face life with a fresh perspective. They have quick emotional responses and an intuitive rapport with others that serves them well in life. They are able to spot and take advantage of opportunities that arise daily, and take full advantage of them. They have a special and unique imagination that they can use to their benefit. Their home is often the center of their personal and social activities.
And I have the most random thought generation, at least among those that I know (but then my Uranus is 1st House, too).

Those on top of
Moon Square Ascendant 3°39
Square – this aspect creates emotional difficulties with their self-expression and their manifestation of energy into action. Relationships suffer under this aspect the most, because their actions are not in line with their emotional desires and needs. They may not be able to act decisively when they need to, confusing those close to them.
...which, come to think of it, may be a large part of the reason I'm not that indiscriminate with my affections.

Keep in mind that the Natal chart indicates potential areas in one's life. The key word is "Potential". How you evolve and fulfill or don't forfill your different potentials is up to your free choice.

If one takes no responsibility for their life, then they tend to forfill their less positive potentials. If they focus their willpower on their growth, they can achieve their positive potentials, and reduce the effects of the less positive potentials.

Its all about FREE CHOICE gang.

Oh, wait, wait - der.
You meant 10d total.
So, that'd be 5d on either side, right?
OK, back to just the Asc Sq.

Yep, Lanny, I know.
And I have plenty of wonderful stuff to work w/ - a kick-arse Mars, 5th House Sun, and 1st House Uranus, for instance. I tend to think that my 3rd House Moon in Aqua rocks as well.
And, h#ll, I have a heavily Eastern chart - I'm all about free choice (of course, referencing that fact to prove that I value free choice may be kinda odd, but eh).

Venus
Conjunct – indicates a highly emotional response to beauty and harmony giving them the ability to effectively capture the emotional component within their artistic endeavors. This aspect confers sensitivity, tact, and a very affectionate nature

My emotional response to beauty borders on the bizzarly intense at times. Uranus' presence in the conjuction may cause that, I think.. My response to beauty is channeled through the sign of Scorpio where my moon and venus are both at exactly 7degrees 20min so I think that results in me seeing the beauty in the context of the great cycles of birth, death and rebirth of this planet. Then you throw in the moon/venus square to Jupiter and suddenly my appreciation of beauty takes on a religious tone.

I am also very sensitive, though I don't always show it, and I crave affection.

Jupiter Square – this aspect is one that indicates emotional excess.

This is mostly true though I have utilized the option of free will to overcome much of the lifestyle excesses I used to harbor. Not without great difficulty of course but the scorpionic energy certainly helped. I was extremely bitter towards religion in my youth as well but have come to terms with it and am now a deeply spiritual person. I do tend to get emotionally excessive still at times. I fear coming on too strong when I'm attracted to someone initially which is sort of what I'm grappling with right now. ummm, yeah. thanks for the insight Lanny.

perhaps this explains it?

this grand trine in my chart?

moon trine venus – They tend to have a soothing effect on others.

moon trine jupiter – Many religious figures have this aspect.

since my uni days, people have remarked that i look or seem to be like a "nun". one person even called me "sister" (um, i don't have a nun's habit in my closet.) because he thought i was one. another expressed surprised that i wasn't because she thought all along i was. she said i ahd a "religious" or something aura. i've also been asked if i was ever one or if i wanted to be one.

it always perplexes me since i don't know that i am or look or act like one. i guess i'll have to learn to get used to it, huh?

hi taj,

a grand trine is when 3 planets make a triangle in a chart, and each one makes two trine aspects with the other two.

if you write down the degrees and signs of the planets you listed, we can find out if they make a grand trine.
