Well, the 12th house suppresses things. It turns them toward the back, you could say. IOW, you have to struggle to make any 12th house planet be direct.

With mercury, it would be communication and thinking

When one meets you, you seem gentle and rather retiring. You may seem like a very sensitive soul.
Inside, you are not as gentle and sensitive, as you seem, as you are quite practical and good with the details of life.
