You may have Cancer rising. Read ALL you can about cancer Sun and come back and tell me if/how it fits and how it does not! xx

You could look like a Cancer or a Libra to me.

I'm sorry for confusing you! I think I get kind of intense about trying to figure this out. (I would like to ask him this month, but I am trying to hold on 'til July.)

I see- I would like to keep talking to you about it, also since it's making me do more research on each sun sign!

Um, the signs that are left are Pisces, Cancer, Taurus, Capricorn, Gemini, and Aquarius. I don't immediately see myself as having a Gemini or Aquarius rising, even though it seems like a quick skim of the Cafe Astrology descriptions might show otherwise!
I don't think that I am a double Taurus though; I'm not *that* earthy.

Ok, I'll look at Cancer!

You are sooo sweet. I want to eat you up. That goes to Cancer, as I feel that way about Cancer Ascs. I want to munch their faces

Uh, I don't know what to say.

I found two pretty different descriptions of the Cancer sun, but my responses to them got pretty long so I thought I should post them one by one:

This is a surprisingly in-depth] site on sun signs:
The Cancer Sun can give a markedly variable personality, from timid and shy to popular and shining. These suns need a secure 'home base' to unwind and de-stress from their outside life. One point I really appreciate is that Cancers prefer a comfortable 'den-like' home to a more showy affair. *Like I said, I really appreciate the mention of the comfortable home because that's something I really like. I am not the shiny social butterfly sort but I am not always super shy, either! I don't know how variable I seem to others, though.*

Cancer Suns aren't generally unsociable, it's more that however socially active they might be, they need to have alone time. The shell of a Cancer gives off a staid, unemotional, shrewd, and purposeful impression, but those close to these Suns will encounter the kind and sensitive side who identifies very well with others due to a vivid imagination. Cancers are attracted to fantasy and the arts- especially drama with it's emotional highs and lows- that excite their imaginations and passions. Personally, Cancer suns might possess considerable artistic skills of their own: wordsmithing, sensitve musical ears, and acting mimicry. They may also have an interest in the occult and be tuned to psychic energy. *Responding to this summary is making me aware of how self-aware I'm not! Oy... I think I might actually give a colder, determined sort of impression when I am specifically going from point A to point B, but if I stop and interact with someone, I am more shy than unemotional. I can imagine myself into others' shoes, but it's something that I can also purposefully avoid doing if I want to. I find drama in fiction very entertaining- not so much in real life. I wouldn't call myself much of a creator, but I do really like arty things.*

If Cancer Suns can work through their contradictory urges to be outgoing while reserved and withdrawn, they can have a positive influence on the people around them. In more intimate relationships, they may fantasize of a very romantic and sentimental relationship but act by maintaining a steadfast loyalty and a protective nature. Cancers take love seriously, giving wholeheartedly of themselves. They may bend to the emotions and opinions of the people they care for too quickly, and take their loyalty to a more exclusive extreme which incites coldness toward unfamiliar people. *I don't have any other way to say it: I am withdrawn but I want to be outgoing at the same time. I have never been in a relationship, so I can't really tell how giving I would be, but I italicized the part that seems like a perfect match right now. I would certainly think that I am not cold to unfamiliar people, but as always, I am withdrawn... oy, this whole paragraph sounds relate-able... *

Cancer suns are graced with a strong memory, especially for emotionally charged events and childhood memories. With their imaginations in the future and their memories well in the past, emotional circumstances that they may have once dealt with may retrigger the same feelings if a similar circumstance is experienced in the present. *I really don't have that great a memory, even for really emotional stuff. However, I will definitely remember the emotion I had in a situation well after I forgot the situation itself. I can't really think of stuff that fits the second part, but I can't say it sounds wrong.*

On the negative side, Cancer can make for a untidy, moody, self-pitying sun which broods on insults but is easily flattered. Even if sometimes difficult with others, Cancers favor popular opinions amongst their chosen groups. As such, Cancer suns may change their perspectives often. Easily swayed and prone to romanticism, these suns make good devotees to their chosen ideals and goals. *Uh, aside from being easily flattered, those negatives sound about right. However, I don't just go with popular opinion. Rather, I would try not to make waves but keep most of my ideas to myself unless I am around people I feel comfortable expressing them around. I do change my mind pretty easily though- I think it's a good balance for the way that I can jump to conclusions too quickly sometimes (how Taurean does that sound? ).

Oh! I just realized that this description doesn't fall into the cliche "Cancer is the Mom of the Zodiac" spiel. I guess I can respond to that all the same, though: I like to have the people around me be happy and if I can help them (as long as it's not a deluge of requests! @_@) then I will, but I don't think I'm that maternal.

I don't know if I should put up the other description that I responded to, considering how much is here. What do you think?

Ah, ok! Since this one was so short, I decided to just post the whole thing and respond top About.Astrology's that way:

quote:
"Those with the Sun in Cancer have a changeable nature, which makes them something of an enigma, even with those closest to them. They’re ruled by the Moon, and are similarly known to glow brightly one moment, and hide their faces the next. A highly emotional sign, they can sink into a mood and fully inhabit it, so that it seems to permeate the atmosphere around them."

*I think of myself as emotionally change-able and moody (though I don't know how obvious it is to other people), but I am unsure if that stretches to being change-able with routines and stuff, because in that way I am kind of predictable. I don't like identifying as "highly emotional" but it does actually fit (though I guess it would anyway with my Pisces Moon! )- I don't think I change the atmosphere around me, though. I can fade into the back pretty well.*

quote:
"The Cancer imagination is so vivid that it’s like they’re watching home movies inside their heads. For them, every life experience can be replayed again and again in Technicolor, and the same internal landscape revisited. This is the raw material for both creative genius, and the tendency to get stuck in emotional eddies. And because they're psychic sponges, they need plenty of space to unravel the little dramas of the day, or they’ll get cranky."

*My imagination can totally seem that real. It's still kind of throws me. However, my memory is not that crystal. Huh, I wouldn't call myself a "psychic sponge," but I've acknowledge my want to have space to just express myself however I like (since I usually am usually a lot more subdued when out and about).*

quote:
"The Cancer has a tender heart, but you might not see it at first behind the cool exterior. Once you’re allowed inside the circle of trust, you’ll start to know why they’re called the “mother” of the Zodiac. Both men and women of this sign have an instinctive nurturing side that endears them to those they love. The Crab’s claws hold tight, though, and often they have trouble letting go of relationships and situations."

*Well... I am shy but I would rather it come off as self-composed- then, when I am actually interacting with someone, I would be friendly... And then there is the major issue I have with Cancer Sun descriptions: I don't see myself as maternal. I am not interested in the responsibilities of caring for others like that. I do like to know that people enjoy being around me and are comfortable, though. I shrug at this, because I just don't see 'Mother' in myself. Maybe I am not looking at it in the right way and I'm being too literal?*

quote:
"The stealth approach of the Cancer Sun often takes people by surprise, and many have been underestimated. They’ll protect their sensitivity by going after what they want indirectly, which can be seen as passive. But try to take advantage of their gentle nature, and you’ll soon be put in your place. Once crossed, the Cancer holds a grudge to infinity, so it’s hard to win back their trust."

*I don't think that I'm stealthy. That makes me think of ninja and I'm not ninja-like. When I think about it, though, I do prefer to fly under the radar.... and I am definitely passive. It takes me a long time to work up the courage or motivation to do stuff (if I do it at all...) But yea, I really don't take well to emotional manipulation. It's a good way to make me mad- but I guess it's just as well that I don't really hold grudges!

quote:
"Above all, the Cancer wants a sense of belonging, and an intimate home life. Once committed, they’ll prove to be the ultimate family man or woman, and likely never stray too far from the nest."

*I don't know where I come down on these points- but if I'm were a relationship, I just can't imagine moving on without cutting ties properly first. (shrug)*
