I put this in personal readings but nobody responded so maybe it is more proper in this thread. This is not my chart, it is my friend's and i am trying to explain to him some of this. I don't want to give him misimformation, but i think i am on the right path.
I think all the retrogrades, the hard moon angles and saturn/mars would make depression very apparent. Am I right? Because if we were to only examine his main planets, we would see an impossibly gregarious, happy person.Sun Gemini 14°10'36 in house 10 direct

I see something, but I wouldn't consider this to be enough for a serious depression. Is he just in a depressing period, or has he been like this since he was younger? For many years?
The only thing I see is maybe his moon, it is square mars and saturn. Maybe he comes of as a bit too strong emotionally, and get "burned" by people. He could also be a bit aggressive if he don't get his way(mars/moon)?
He is also very emotional for a gemini, it seems like he has a strong moon and it is in his 12th house and it is kinda afflicted. It could point out that he has some difficult emotions he has trouble dealing with.

I think it is both- that he has history of it and that he is dealing with it now. Do you think the mars/saturn placement would be a major part because his mars is in retrograde? HmmmIP: Logged |

I have problems with depression but only at summer time. My planets are of course in different signs and houses but him and I both share Mercury and Mars square moon.
My Mercury and Mars are conjunct in Virgo, which is a criticizing placement but I think with a square to moon it can make anyone kind of tough on themselves.
Moon in the 12th can contribute. You never know what's in there with the 12th.
Non-related - I found it interesting. Our charts are very different, yet I also have Sun sextile moon. (swapped - my moon Gemini and Sun Leo) My pluto is conjunct asc rather than sextile but we both have a pluto/asc aspect. I have Chiron conjunct South Node, rather than North Node.
