Sesquisquares are not the same as conjunctions for sure and they are different from squares and semi squares too, they are its own thing.

I have Moon (Gemini/3rd house) conjunct Mars (Gemini/3rd) sesquisquare Saturn (Cap/11th) and also Venus (Virgo/6th) sesquisquare Saturn.

I don't know exactly how my sesquisquares play out. I do have a Thors hammer configuration in my chart, as well as a yod connected to my Moon/Mars. I have read that when there's a yod and Thor's hammer in a chart, the Thor's hammer helps and is kind of a "way out" for the yod because a sesquisquare is easier to work with than a quincunx. In my personal life, I've seen this work. Basically, the way out is usually the option that requires a lot of hardwork and determination, and even sacrifice. Success is harder to come by, but people often respect and admire the endurance that I have working towards long term goals. I see it as more "this is the only way to complete this task." It's also the only way to work with my yod - which is more like a firecracker and less like a Finger of God.

I've probably experienced my Thor's hammer in synastry. I have had a lot of relationships that fit the descriptions above. I think it is more difficult for me to choose the path that requires more work (stability) when it's so much easier to just break up when things get tough.

I thought they were considered minor hard aspects?! No I didn't liken them to conjunctions, just the fact that we have a hard aspect DW in synastry.
Hmmm I really don't know what to think of them so haven't really paid that much attention to them in my chart.

Yes but based on the research I have gathered and my own personal observations they are more challenging than squares.

Read the entire thread if you want to get a better idea of how that aspect is like.
