Edit: If you haven't looked into the Equatorial Axis before, you're not alone! I hadn't until very recently. In astro.com, select the Meridian house system. Your East Point is the 1st house cusp in that system, and your West Point is the descendant/7th house cusp. This is the equatorial axis, the points that would have been on the Eastern and Western horizon at the time of your birth had you been born on the equator. Happy hunting!

Hi,

Could you kindly do me (and the astrologers of the world wide web) a big favour if you're inspired, and let me know your findings re: East/West Point activations in your significant relationships thus far, and a few words about the nature of those relationships where it was activated?

How did you feel about the qualities of/feelings aroused by the interaspects forming with the signs on the cusps of the 1st and 7th in the Meridian house system?

I'm curious whether the West Point is similar to a descendant, in terms of that which we attract or wish to attract. Is it integral, like a basic point of fulfillment?

I am familiar with Lotis White's writings re: ideal situations and the East/West Point and I do trust she knows her stuff. http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/226621.html

I am curious whether you resonate with this axis as being a place of inner contentment, where you go to reflect, semi consciously, and truly relax into an ideal mind frame...

It is easy for me to identify with my East Point as it is in Scorpio along with my Asc, Sun, Mercury, and Pluto.

I haven't been with too many folks with Taurus placements until this current relationship which is full of them. His East Point is conjunct my West Point by 2 degrees, so I put my Sun in his 7th if we're using the Meridian house system.

He has been with more people with Scorpio tendencies than Sagittarius placements (his descendant sign) but he is definitely attracted to a prominent Jupiter... he seems to need something in Scorpio though for the attraction. That's where his Saturn is, and his Vertex.

I'm going to expand and offer more examples, curious what you come up with.

Ohhh, love it yungang!!!
Ok, I have a slight input to offer, but I am totally looking forward to learning about others' opinion/experience with this!!!!
Actually, if we use the Meridian, all angles are conjunct in my synastry, that's because my East Point conjuncts his MC and his EP my IC!
I am not sure if the vertex or the EP was more powerful in that case, so take my words with a grain of salt!
I fell in love with him the minute I saw him for the first time, so maybe the EP played a role in this!
I am gonna check and see if I can find other synastries where the EP was activated, so that I can offer a more valid opinion
Thank you for this thread!!!

ETA : To fully answer your question I should add that my EP is in Aqua and he has Sun, Mercury and MC in Aqua, as well as SN in Aqua. Moreover, I just saw that if we use the Meridian, his Sun and Merc fall in my 12th house, instead of the 1st house they fall in the placidus system. His Mars, Jupiter and NN fall in my 7th house in both systems. So, I can't say if there's a difference here, regarding the 7th house. I have Asc in 28 14 cap and my EP is 16 55 Aqua, the planets that I am talking about are in Virgo, so they don't change houses in that case. I am thinking about his sun and Merc falling in my 12th instead of 1st, plus his Venus, that falls in my 1st in the Meridian (instead of 2nd)...will add sth later.

ETA 2: The weird synchronicity here is that I was thinking about the EP about 12 hours ago lol! I will add here my observation, in case that helps somehow. I looked into an actress' chart out of curiosity lol and I saw that she has EP conjunct her Asc (by 2d). The funny thing is that her beauty is exotical imo, just like the EP is the idea of paradise (and Lotis said in her thread that interestingly paradise is stereotypically considered a tropical location! So I wondered whether the EP can in fact be seen in our natal, if it makes aspects with personal points, just like here. EP conjunct the Asc = our appearance ---> exotic beauty ???)

Interestingly enough he doesn`t aspect my EP/WP AT ALL.

However my EP is conjunct my own Venus and his Chiron as well as his Mars-Jupiter-conjunction are trine my Venus loosely with 3, 4 and 5 degrees. But not my EP (which is 2 degrees conj. my Venus).

Well his Sun is on the antiscion of my EP (as is my own Sun).

his EP is conjunct his ASC, not majorly aspected by my chart either, though it IS squaring my Sun-Mercury (his Vertex is on his WP so it shares that square to my Sun-Mercury). (it`s conjunct my Draco ASC and the stellium on it though).

But all in all a bit meh. Not feeling the magic.

Mr Law howeve? NOW we`re talking.

my EP-Venus conjuncts his Sun (and squares his Pluto on his MC).

in fact HIS EP is exactly on his own Sun and therefore conjunct my Venus-EP, too.

my EP 4°10 Cap
my Venus 6°07 Cap

his Sun 7°38 Cap
his EP 7°41 Cap

okay, it is not very close (his EP to my EP) but still impressive enough.

Oh, juicy tidbit. We BOTH have NYMPHE conjunct our own natal EP.

"#875 asteroid Nymph takes 1.5 years to orbit the Sun and represents a deep love of the natural world...among other things.
The dictionary defines nymph as this: A nymph (Greek: νύμφη, nymphē in Greek mythology and in Latin mythology is a minor female nature deity typically associated with a particular location or landform.
Nymphs were a lot like the local Goddess. Known for being diminutive in size and beautiful in appearance, these entities were much like the fairies of today. Much talk in mythology is of the sexiness of the woodland nymph. These lithe females were not ashamed to indulge in their senses. The word "Nymphomaniac" comes from the image and stories of these slight deities.
Nymphe shows up in several ways in the birth chart. In aspect to the ascendant or Sun, this asteroid can create a sexuality that can be SEEN.
Nymph in aspect to mars is known to greatly increase the sex drive.
Nymph on the midheaven is about being openly comfortable with ones sexuality and possibly being known for it. Many porn stars have Eros and/or Nymph aspecting the midheaven.
Nymph on the I.C. is about a very personal sexuality that longs to be shared with a woman who has a strong maternal way. Many men who crave a maternal figure have this aspect. Women with Nymph on the I.C. tend to hold their sexuality very personally and close to the vest.
Nymph in aspect to Venus increases femininity in women and aesthetic appreciation in men.
Nymph in aspect to the Moon is known for creating a love of nature and the solitude of woodland places. You are restored by nature. Many natural gardeners have Nymph in aspect to the Moon.
Nymph in aspect to Chiron is sexual healing or wounding, depends on the aspect.
Not much research has been done on Nymph in aspect to the outer planets.
Nymph in synastry is a fun one to find! This asteroid increases sexual attraction and appetite."

Of course that has consequences for our composite

EP 16°03 Aquarius

Nymphe 15°56 Aquarius
Pallas 16°45 Aquarius
Isthar 18°12 Aquarius

Since this is all conjunct my Moon on 17°06 Aquarius, I can remember the fixed star it falls closely to.

SUALOCIN 17°01 Aquarius
in the constellation of the Dolphin. Which I think makes sense. Dolphins and Nymphe, surely fits.

Ok, this is interesting, because I found another synastry with his Mars conjuncting my West Point.
It was a platonic thing, but it wasn't one-sided, it simply never took off for other reasons.
This difference is important in this case I think, because in placidus system his Mars makes only one aspect, sextiling my Saturn! And I definitely thought that he was sexy (although it was mostly an attraction of the mind). The fact that I was sexually attracted to him, even though I didn't even consider him as particularly handsome might be explained better with his Mars conjuncting my West Point, thus being a second Dsc of some form. So, I guess this research is juicy!!! lol
Yungang please tell me if you want me to post the synastry as well!

ETA : I am wondering now if the EP/WP to another person's planet or point goes both ways or not. I mean in the above example his Mars conj. my WP, did he feel my WP too??? I don't have a clue lol

Yeahh and I just found that I have angles conjunct in the Meridian with my brother too!
My EP conjuncting his IC, his EP conjuncting my MC by 3 d approximately! It's the reverse comparing to the first synastry I mentioned (my EP=his MC, his EP= my IC).
Since he is my brother and it's not a romantic thing apparently, I think I can offer an explanation. In the first case, I thought that maybe I am affected more by the vertex and was doubtful as to if my input would be valuable. But here, yes, I can say that my brother feels like paradise a lot of the time! We are close and there is a mind-communication that I have only found once, that is with the first person I mentioned above. This research offered me a new perspective, as he reminds me of my brother a lot in some ways. It definitely plays a role that he has a gem Asc and my brother is a Gem sun/moon, but now I am wondering if the conjunction of the angles with the EP/WP axis might play a role here, too! It's really a puzzle to me!

Ceri, hi!
I just saw that "his EP is conjunct his ASC"! Do you find him exotically attractive?
I am curious because of the observation I made earlier, whether the natal EP conjuncting one's personal point/planet in their own natal could mean anything or not! Especially conj. the Asc, maybe it makes the native look like paradise?
Maybe it's too far-fetched, I don't know, I was just wondering yesterday!

ETA : Or, additionally, how do you feel with your own Venus conjuncting your EP?

So, my findings regarding the activation of EP/WP are these so far :
1) In the first case (all angles conjunct), not only I fell in love from the moment I saw him, but after 2 years I can honestly say that he literally feels like paradise to me. What I mean is that the description Lotis offered in the above mentioned thread totally resonates. The EP as a point of personal biased sense of paradise is exactly the case. I have seen his flaws and while quite honestly in other cases I might have gone by now, in this case I feel that regardless of them (or even because of them???), he still fulfills an ideal to me. I know its not objective and in fact I wondered thousands of times why exactly I feel like that. Its not reasonable even to me that I feel it
So, this
"The East Point/West Point Axis, on the other hand, relates to feelings of contentment and joy about a particular person or situation.. It’s that cozy, warm feeling of inner security you get when your satisfied with the way things are, and don’t want them to change. The EP/WP Axis relates our idealized notions of how things should be. We all have our personal biases about the way we prefer things to flow in our lives. The signs and planets on the EP/WP Axis show what kinds of people and situations that make us feel as if our preferences are being met- That we have a piece of ‘paradise’ in our lives that we’d like to hold onto." is totally true..

2) In the second case, with his Mars on my WP, as I said before, I think this created an attraction that isn't supported by other mars aspects in the placidus system. In fact, in that synastry, not only there is one sextile from my saturn to his Mars, but my Mars receives only a wide (>5 d) conjunction from his Pluto. Since Mars represents sexuality and the man's type in a woman's chart, I think it's important that there are only these 2 aspects, if we don't count the WP I mean.
3) In the synastry with my brother (again all angles conjunct, a bit wider than in the first case though), I believe this has to do with the comfort zone I feel cozy and warm and don't want to change it. This "We all have our own little comfort zone that we like to operate in. The EP/WP Axis shows the nature of the energy dynamic that we prefer to operate within. This is the energy dynamic that we’d like to be able to settle comfortably into, and bask in the joy of being part of it." totally resonates. The aspect in the placidus system that messes things up a bit is that my brother's NN conjuncts my MC, thus his SN conj. my IC. So I am wondering if this might be more powerful than the EP/WP axis conjunction.
Overall, I think the research of the EP has a lot to offer and it's really a shame that there isn't so much info on this!

Wonderful input so far!! Thank you so much, mar and Ceri

:dangles fancy EP/WP monogrammed hard candies before other potential contributors:

I'm wondering if we'll find examples of synchronicities/ faceted complementarity between the EP/WP when comparing natals to composite charts and such.... I'm noticing cool things with draconic East/West points and composite-draconic comparisons... and it's very interesting to see what the equatorial axis looks like in a Davison chart. I'll share more of my personal examples forthwith.

mar1982delta,

It's really interesting to hear your stories. Your connection with your brother sounds beautiful and I don't doubt that sense of rightness is contributed to by this axis activation with angles. No coincidence there! Of course IC/node connections are going to be similar in feel, indeed.

And that connection with Mars in synastry with that fellow does sound like it is a missing piece of the puzzle of your sexual attraction. Something which keys in where there feels like there should be something but draws a mysterious blank is to me often a key indicator which can help to prove the veracity of an astrological factor/method... so it's such great input thank you! Exactly what I'm looking for.

Secretly I'm hunting for cases of long term attraction/enjoyment together which featured the EP/WP and rulers *even more* prominently than aspects to the Asc/Desc... not so secret anymore! But I'm fascinated by the whole subject

Ceridwen,

Those are some fascinating connections. Your natal chart factors basically blow me completely away, over and over again... Your Venus is in Sag, right? So do you identify with your Venus with a sense of profound ease and enjoyment? Is your resourcefulness and enjoyment of the material world very natural and integral to your experiences? I would say i bet you have a comfy house but in Sag I'd say you have a comfy horse!! Heh... sadly i don't know what I'm talking about as I don't remember your Venus sign properly.

Everyone who feels like it can totally go ahead and post their charts with Meridian by the way I would love to see them!

I <3 Nymphe... i remember Auby describing it as the 'sex-positive' asteroid. I have Nymphe conjunct Veritas in Cancer, which feels absolutely right for me... I love feeling truthfully free to explore! And makes sense I would be a water nymph ... squares my lover's Sun/Moon midpoint.

It's really interesting that both of these prominent/likable/mightily attractive men have such significant chart factors aligned with their EP! Sun and Asc respectively! I think mar is onto something with the idea that an Asc/EP conjunction had significance in terms of being your own walking talking personal paradise!

Just to start with the more obscure and work my way to the basics:

D.'s Draconic East Point is conjunct our composite Moon/Anti-Vertex/Amor

My draconic West Point is conjunct my natal Vertex (!!!)--that feels good and right to me. My intuitive sense of the EP/WP is very much in keeping with Lotis White's descriptions; it's kinda warm and fuzzy, luxuriant almost, but basic, integral, almost unnoticeable.

The difference between the intuitive sensation I get around my Ascendant at 2 Scorpio vs. my East Point at 17 Scorpio is rather pronounced. The Ascendant has more of a buzz to it; the East Point is a warm bath you don't even notice you're in anymore (until you're boiled alive!!!! Just joking )

What's also cool is that my Draconic East Point at 7 Sag is conjunct my Draconic Sun at 10 Sagittarius. His natal Jupiter (descendant ruler) is at 10 Sag too.

I think we can allow orbs of 3 degrees quite safely with this axis, and possibly more. I wonder, Lotis White, if you're reading, can you advise as to orbs here?

I remember the Sappho bit! I wonder what the rest of your chart looks like cause if you've got writing talent maybe you could make a go of it writing classy poetic erotica or something

But the whole chart must be taken into account of course, and of course just because some porn stars have Nymphe/Eros aspecting the MC does not by any stretch mean everyone with that aspect will be!

Can you tell us a wee bit about your sexual expression and the way it's viewed and how it's part of your path? Maybe we should start a Nymphe thread in Asteroid Astrology or bring one up? Probably that would be fun.

In Davison he and I have Venus and Sun conjunct the West Point, Venus especially very tight, within 0'30.

Draconic Sun at 2 Capricorn is conjunct my Draconic Eros (29 Sag) and his Draconic Psyche (1 Cap) and my natal Saturn (0 Cap). All of this around the Draconic West Point.

My examples thus far may not be especially useful given this is just my current thing and so of special interest to me... but it is useful because of the attraction itself I guess eh? We do share a quite profound connection and he is in many ways my ideal person... philosophically, physically.. in his bearing, his values, his music, his demeanour. I often do reflect that it feels like paradise sometimes when things are good... they're so good. Again, maybe not unusual lol. And very similar to mar, I overlook or am able to love right.through some of his unsavoury qualities in a way I couldn't have with other people... and yeah wehave crazy stuff to work on and sometimes I see his dark side and it is awful and I need to look out for myself etc etc. Disclaimer! Not perfect! But perceived as perfect somehow, anyhow..

His East Point is 18 Taurus, mine is 17 Scorpio. And our MC/IC axis is flipped too, my MC conjunct his IC...

I'm woefully bereft of birth times for my father and mother, who I would love to explore this topic with. I'll root around and see especially what comes up with my sister, as mar you've piqued my interest there... and others as well...

Ok draconic comparison at a quick glance :

1) for the first synastry with him, his Eros is conjunct my draconic EP/Asc in the Meridian. I think I love that, lol! And if we imagine that like a second kind of Eros conjunct Asc. in the draconic, I think it's valid, too, lol
2) for the second synastry (His Mars = my WP), his Ceres is conjunct my draconic EP. That's sweet, although I can't say for sure if this resonates. It's an old crush lol and never an actual one, so...
3) for the synastry with my brother, my Venus conjuncts his draconic EP. I'll have to think about how this could manifest..

I was just playing around with Solar Fire - for some reason I SUDDENLY felt the urge to check fixed stars and arabic parts in the composite

No clue where that came from, but while doing so, I noticed in our composite

WP 16°03 Leo (7th house)
Part of Marriage 16°31 Leo

Sabian: A Volunteer Church Choir Singing Religious Hymns

In the Davison chart

WP 13°52 Leo (also 7th house but interc.)
Saturn 13°47 Leo

Saturn rules the Capricorn-ASC

Sabvian: A Human Soul Seeking Opportunities For Outward Manifestation

I also noticed that in Davison PART OF BONDAGE falls onto the ASC on 13°39 Capricorn, I mean PRECISELY to the minute!!!
(KARMA on 14°55 Cap)

Interestingly his name in my chart is on 13°50 Capricorn

Sabian: An Ancient Bas-Relief Carved In Granite Remains A Witness To A Long-Forgotten Culture

BTW It puts the ASC-Karma in Davison pretty close to the fixed star VEGA at 15°00 Cap
(I am using 1°30 with fixed stars, and Vega is a biggie, actually one of the few really sparkly nice ones of the fixed stars ).

Naturally it also means that our Davison DESC is conjunct SIRIUS (13°45 Cancer) and CANOPUS (14°37 Cancer).

"the EP is
symbolically where the Ascendant would be if we were born at the Equator
(a fixed earth point just like the Aries Point) we merge the meaning of
the two:

The East Point symbolizes contacts, manner of interaction (persona),
relationships with others, and environs (Ascendant) when one is out among
the general public (Aries). I have found this to be the case. For
example, transits to this point indicate meetings out among the public (on
the street, in public buildings, etc.) It does indeed refer to those
components of relationships which take place out in public or which gain
public notice, and to our public persona.

Interesting that some astrologers (for example, those who use the Meridian
house system) employ the East Point in place of the Ascendant.... the East
Point is the way one is known for conducting oneself in public, while the
Ascendant is the way one interacts with others in more personal situations
(symbolically, specific to one's birthplace). This would imply that only
people who know us well could validate the pictures and aspects to the AS
while those who know us only in public situations would validate the
pictures and aspects to the EP.

This brings up the issue of relocation charts. We use the birthtime to
indicate how cosmic conditions imprinted and impacted our personalities at
birth... it would imply that if we change the angles to our relocated
residence, it follows that we should also change the planets for the date
and time we arrived at that new location to stay. For those who have
actually recorded the date and time they arrived at a new city of
residence, the new chart is quite noteworthy.... it is a chart of a new
life(style). You could also do synastry with your birthchart to see what
the challenges and changes are/were.

Blake Finley, MA
San Francisco, USA "
http://junojuno2.tripod.com/vertex.html

I see how I could relate to this, for example when we first met Tr Moon was on 1 Capricorn applying to a conjunction with my EP on 4 Capricorn, so meeting with public pretty much sums it up I guess.

Tr Juno exactly squared his EP (and was precisely conjunct our composite Sun with only one minute of orb, which of course means it transited our synastric Sun-Moon-MC//Sun-Mercury stellium)

My Draco chart is inside, his outer ring.

EQ is the East Point (Solar fire uses the name "equatorial ASC" for it, which pretty much is what it is. lol)

You see where it falls, right?

@yungang_grotto

I have Mercury in the 5th house, i read before that this could give me talent for writing. I also have Sag Pluto in the 4th/5th house cusp, i feel the effect on both houses because of IC in Scorp.

I know, i was just kidding asdfghjkl

About my sexual expression... it's a bit hard to talk about because this is a part of my life where i still am restricted (8th house Saturn). I'm already an adult and my dad treats me like i'm 5 he's overly protective. When growing up i didn't have anyone i could openly talk about sex.

I don't work yet but i'll go to college in 3 months if i pass the exam, which i will And then i might start working and maybe my dad will see me as responsible and stop supervising me when i'm with a boy.

I've always been interested in this asteroid but there isn't much info i think, at least not that i remember. I know the basics and a thread about it would be nice

I'm not even talking about the main subject of this thread, i'm so sorry My EP is in 16' Leo btw. My ex has 14' Aqua Sun. We were together for 3 months or something, mostly because i was a stupid fetus who was so in love with his voice (??) My Venus conjunct his Mercury exact, it's not my fault. Lovely aspect btw...

Ohhh, Nyctea, thanks for that, your input made me realize something I hadn't by now, lol!
His Mercury conjuncts my EP by 2 degrees and I have always found his voice divine!!!!!!! I mean I fell in love with him before even hearing it, but when I heard it, I mean....wow
And I was really wondering why is that, because I have no venus-mercury in my synastry, like the one you do!
Your input actually confirms even more the original thread with the East Point!!!! This is perfect!

ETA : Plus I am a little terrified about how he might feel my Chiron conjunct (by approx. 4-5 degrees) his EP!!! lol, I really hope for the healing effect to be true..
Plus I hope that my IC on his EP might save the situation a little, too, lol
