Haha no, it's not like that.
There is talking but it is more structured and more on point. It is restricted in this way, and may lack warmth, expression of any feeling or fun. Not robotic but most likely the things that are discussed will be very specific and the words will be shaped in a way that they only portray what is most important or relevant at the time, no getting carried away with the details. This might also mean that important details are overlooked / not shared which in turn makes the information that is communicated insufficient. Worst case scenario, you could feel reluctant to talk with each much, or at all. This will likely be due to the environment and circumstances that you find yourselves in. Anything that is said will sound very diplomatic, professional or even heavy and overly serious. This might feel abrupt and uncomfortable at times as nowadays everyone expects some warmth to be exchanged, at least this is my observation, and it's very possible that the things that are said would not be build up to and may even come off as shocking. If one party starts expecting a more relaxed and friendlier conversation they might be really disappointed with this aspect and think the other person is very cold as they are likely to continue expressing themselves in a stern manner. There may be a tendency to be extremely picky with the words and things you say, you might repeat the same mundane things over and over without feeling that this is a problem, or later end up feeling really fed up with it. If you chat online you might find yourselves editing your words a lot only to fit in what is most important, either omitting certain unnecessary details or adding in the specifics that were not included in the first time.

Obviously this covers the aspect alone, any other aspects to Mercury will change the nature of communication and this would have to be considered. If Saturn is in the third Composite house of communication and exchange of ideas it might really add to the stiffness. Certainly, it's possible that one of the parties feels a general lack in the communication, there may be a feeling of craving to speak with the other person but just being unable to, maybe not even knowing what to say at times, how to liven up the conversation, express feelings. Both may start feeling burdened by this and with time you may communicate less and less. In general, the conversations will be quite short. Outside forces are likely to prevent you from conversing often and at length.

But coupled WITH the Venus square sat?

Also, how would composite Saturn conjunct Mercury differ from the square?

venus square Saturn as you would expect cools the emotional Attraction, though if there is a great difference in ages, this might not be such a issue,
with Venus conjunct Saturn, you get a deeper and steady emotional appreciation for each other rather than problems with emotional intimacy.

Thanks Todd why wouldn’t venus square Saturn be such an issue. An aspect is still an aspect no?

And for my second query, I meant mercury conjunct Saturn ?!

I'm a bit confused with out a visual aid.
fist venus square to Saturn usually detracts from a relationship unless there are many other strong aspects of affection.

mercury conjunct Saturn is actually very good because it adds deet and profundity o the mental connection. Very often the worldviews are extreme compatible .

Well I have my Saturn trine my father's Mercury and a few years ago we used to talk not so much... It's not composite, it's synastry, but still... And it's a good aspect but still...

Yeah I know you like visual aids Todd, I just get chicken s**t about posting them lol! Actually I’ve posted this one before with the venus square Saturn square mercury. It’s the guy that was torn between Uranus and other girl. So him and other girl have this aspect.

He and I (Uranus girl) have mercury conjunct Saturn however it’s in the Davison. Someone once said that might show restriction in communicating in daily life so I thought I’d ask you and am glad you gave me a diff view. Our words are more measured and thoughtful but we understand each other very well. We also have sun/mercury trine sun/mercury in synastry so that helps too.

Would composite mercury square Uranus display itself as on/off communication? That’s the issue which annoys me. We’ll go through periods of no contact and then bam suddenly it’s full throttle.

Todd: How would I post a composite chart so that you can take a look at it? You seem to know a lot.

Upload it on a picture hosting site like tinypic and then post it here.

Aww, thank you so much todd, that means a lot coming from you!
I think I've forgotten to add a few more things that can crop up with the square aspect. There could actually be a sense of mistrust, doubting or not believing what the other is saying. There may be misunderstandings at times and you can also become defensive with what the other is saying. Your opinions and how you perceive things may also differentiate sometimes.

As for Venus square Saturn, along with it being a damper on sensuality, I think it could also show up as the male partner being critical, with picky, cutting and offhand remarks (especially in a close/romantic relationship). This might make the female feel insecure over time and erode her sense of self-worth.
