Davison is the midpoint between time and space between the birthdates of two people and is an actual chart so I find that transits to the Davison are felt in a much more concrete way so is better for predictive work and both parties feel the energy and manifestation of the chart regardless if it conjuncts either of the natals. Davison gives you a good idea of the fate of the relationship I feel and its purpose. Composite tells you more about the dynamics of the relationship since is an extension of the synastry essentially. What is very noteworthy is repeated themes between the Davison and Composite!!!! bc the purpose/fate of the relationship is aligning with the dynamics of the relationship and that is very powerful.

Hypatia238 - I just compared the composite and davison of a relationship to see what you mean in action. What I found is that the composite and davison were quite similar except the Davison is like a softer, more preferable version (hard saturn aspects are soft, etc) in the composite. Both people are born in the same year. What does this mean with regards to composite v. Davison?

Ofcourse ami!

Well you know, the composite (not davison) is so much more than just taking the midpoints of 2 identical planets (like Sun/Sun - Moon/Moon etc.) to arrive at the composite placement.

So, what exactly do we already know if we find a tight conjunction or opposition in a composite chart between a pair of planets (taking the Sun and Moon as an example below)? Well, this;

- Person A is born under a waning sextile while person B is born under a waxing sextile (I use the sextile as an example but this can be any aspect or even NO aspect, like an angle of 77 waxing and waning).
So this means the angle between her Sun & Moon is the exact same as the angle between his Sun & Moon.

- We also know already then, that there is an exact same-aspect DW (double whammy) underneath. Like; the angle between HIS Sun and HER Moon is the exact same as the angle between HER Sun and HIS Moon. Like, a DW Sun-Moon square or a DW sextile or name it.. might be any aspect but which one that is we only find out by looking underneath the composite aspect (at both natals and its interaction). The stronger the aspect (interpersonal or personal) the more power it has. But all-in-all, whatever the aspect underneath composite alignments (= tight conjunctions and oppositions) are, they're the most powerful resonances to occur between 2 people.

- Both Suns and both Moons have the same angle as well. Like; Sun-Sun sextile and Moon-Moon sextile. But again; this can be any aspect. And only by looking at both natals and its interaction we find out which one it is.

Ok, ANY questions about the above? (cause then we can go on )

This has been such an informative and interesting thread for me, by the way. I'm always interested to understand why a certain string of astrology is preferable for some people and not others. I'm so glad everyone is sharing their insight and expertise in a wise and mature fashion - makes for an excellent learning environment, gives everyone an opportunity to share how their experiences shape their view of astrology, and vice versa

I have an exact Saturn/Mercury conjunction in the composite with David Cochrane! My most favorite astrologer, I learned so much from him... all I mentioned here, I never could have done it without him...
We both natally have an exact Saturn/Mercury SQUARE!

I have a particular weak for Saturn/Mercury square people... and if theirs is a WANING square (while mine the WAXING one) .. there is much attraction + to learn.. and so that will then result in a composite Saturn/Mercury conjunction (or opp.).

Perfect I am glad you feel that way, I was hoping for that, for you to see there are so many different views and preferences in how to approach astrology.
