Haven't had the composite (to my knowledge) but I have it natally and I've experienced it in synastry so I could share some insight!I find it can be a bit 'shocking' at times to suddenly realize what the connection is, or sometimes it's a sudden realization that you're on two different pages entirely. It depends on the person and other factors in a big way though.
Sun is what is very visible to us and others in our connections, whereas the moon is more a reflection between each other, how we feel and how we emotionally connect. When these things are inconjunct (which really, doesn't last in terms of progressions!) it can feel like the emotional nature is happening at entirely different times as what we call the relationship.
For example: we feel things about the connection, even together, in ways that don't really show up IN the connection. Sometimes an argument that needs to be had (or confrontation) is left until boiling point because we don't realize it NEEDs confronting. We may not realize it's the relationship that is causing the source of discombobulation.
Sometimes we can bask in the connection itself, only to separate and realize we actually have all kinds of different feelings about it, and they sort of 'disappear' or 'hide away' when we are together.
I find the quincunx needs a lot of time apart to make sure everyone is on the same page- sort of a very 'two individuals deciding very consciously to come together'.
