------------------ "There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll IP: Logged |

Looks like it works with (as opposed to run by) the UN: http://www.gaiauniversity.org/english/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=51&Itemid=66 But even though I don't like the UN for multiple reasons, and don't trust its leadership, I don't see why a program working with (or even ran by) the UN should automatically be one to stay away from. (Now trusting the UN to actually keep any promises to better the environment, etc, is another matter, but if it runs a "feel good" op to look like they're doing something, the program could--even unintentionally--still do some good or have other value.) Sure, such a program will likely have a lot of UN propaganda mixed in, but even if it's not connected, it might still have the same propaganda...or propaganda from another source. In any case, the key is to avoid being gullible, don't accept everything at face value, use critical thinking skills, but at the same time try not to be closed minded. As for GU itself, I don't really have much thought on it. I know that I find shallow, if noble, thoughts and aspirations are depressingly common, but there are some bright and shiny exceptions out there. Maybe GU is one of them (or one day will be, or inspire a group to break away from GU and become one, etc). IP: Logged |

thank you so much for replying! i'm still very "on the fence" with this topic, but i keep searching and searching for someone/something/somewhere that will really help me get started in creating a socially responsible business and learning environment. i have no clue where to turn to because everything/one seems to have some hidden agenda. thanks for any advice you might have.
