I keep hearing this and other sayings like it - your passion is your purpose. Of course, like anyone else, I would love to work in a field I'm passionate about. So what if I'm passionate about astrology, tarot, ghosts, the paranormal..how do I make an income off of a passion for the unknown/explainable without being a Miss Cleo?IP: Logged |

I think I know what you mean Frankie... I feel passion about a lot of things... To equate money with it feels 'dirty' to me... something not right about it. It's like a put down, to me. Spoils the gift...(to me) Too bad artists just can't be artists, serious artists. In olden times there were 'patrons' for the arts... people who appreciated art so much that they willingly housed and gave monies. I think, for me, it's better to be given money than to have to ask for it. Should be the receiver's gratefulness that they would be sure to provide you with part of what you need.... and that wouldn't need to be cash-dollar

I do not see it as wrong to be paid for providing a service to folks; even such as one's passion being art, psychic/Tarot, Lexigramming, Astrology. You do not begrudge a doctor, or carpenter the right to be compensated for their skills used to provide a service for you. So why begrudge other folks compensation for their service and precious time required to do something for you? Oh yes it would be nice to have a barter system, or an appreciation payment of some worth, money or trade; however that just does not pan out these days does it? Thank yous no matter how sincere do not pay the bills.------------------ NumeroLexigrams ~I remember, therefore I am immortal ~Lexxigramer My Lexigramming Biography IP: Logged |

The prime thing here first off in those passions you listed; is be absolutely sure that you possess actual skill in the areas listed, and that you are indeed a true adept, not merely passionate about those things. Too many fakes and wannabes out there in those fields already. Always be honest, and never make things up to please a client. Also never try to profit from the suffering of others.------------------ NumeroLexigrams ~I remember, therefore I am immortal ~Lexxigramer My Lexigramming Biography IP: Logged |

Hi Lexxigramer... I'm not necessarily talking about the "professional" world-- you're right that can be different. What I allude to is more a core sense within the individual. The sense of being drawn and wanting to dive into that ocean inside, like a river within the ocean, that captures, captivates... Makes everything about you feel you're in the right place, and you want to pour yourself out; and as you do, it just fills you more. For me, like frankie, I've found a passion for learning and growing, through astrology and the metaworlds. I've experienced financial abuse. Been vulnerable... You probably know how some people have no couth, no values. They'll steal your ideas and have no remorse. You don't get the credit, nor the bill-monies. They won't give your (dire) needs another thought. Discard you. They got what they wanted, and that's fair to THEM in their world. I had to learn the REALLY hard lesson that the 'world' isn't fair... (I get amnesia, or just stupid). But I realize that the 'universe' uses a wider higher different system that's impossible for me to see, myself. I must 'trust' what my heart knows, rather than what my mind thinks. And I get mixed up. I wish that I had had better mentoring where finances were concerned. Because I was 'female' in my family and culture, I got 'left out.' Women need to help the women in the world that never learned that for themselves... no charge... pass it on! IP: Logged |

Hello mirage29 Oh yes, I definitely know that sense of passion! quote: Originally posted by mirage29:

I too have found my passions in esoteric things and I intend to learn forever. quote: Originally posted by mirage29:

Yes, sadly that is all too true. I wonder if such people are at peace in their souls? quote: Originally posted by mirage29:

Better pray 'bout this 1 Frank. There is a lot of things certain individuals find/figure out. But there is an infinite amount of knowledge we are not supposed/authorized/allowed to know/understand.

There are no limits to knowledge except for responsibility. That means certain things one can know but it is not meant to be given to everyone. Such folks work selflessly behind the scenes, for the good off all, and not to use it for profit. Do not seek wealth from the suffering of others.

aMen to That one. What is profit but the ability to finance ones own selfish and matterillistic obsession on what won't even be there for you at the end of each year. My new years, new Lives rather, resolution is to not spend any monies on what iI don't want to put up in heaven waiting my arrival or anything that I am not able to hold on to for as long as I live, the items it takes to stay alive, and anything productivly able to keep me content in life by and by each day. [(clothes that will last, food and drink, n a piano nd guitar; jus some examples) maybe thro in a Xbox with NFS, Halo, and Guitar Hero :-P ] IP: Logged |

True, so true. I, for one, have been asking myself this most pertinent question: How do I use my passion to enrich myself?Or more appropriately, how do I use my passion to self-sustain? Is it possible for one to find one's professional "home" in a world that is so obsessed with profit margins and percentages? How does an artistic, philosophic, emotive soul survive in a world where corporate ladder climbing makes these qualities redundant? They always say "follow your bliss". I would follow my bliss if it actually lead me somewhere.... IP: Logged |

I have a heart that bursts with passion. I pour passion over everything I do, be it mowing the lawn, washing my car, or my job. The problem here though, is that I put so much into everything that I do, so when failure finds me, it hurts a lot. IP: Logged |
