Thats amazing
-Rob, did you forget that the spray you wear is TANGERINE scent??

I've been getting into aromatherapy lately and I love scents like lavander, chamomile, and my new favorite is gardenia. Not sure if theyre "my scents" exactly though.

YIVY, do you happen to get a scent from me?
..although, I'm a little scared to find out.

Brownie...something like peppermint.
I realize you live in the north, so you can't grow gardenias like we do here in the south, but they have some lovely houseplants.

In fact, most people think of gardenias as houseplants. Here in the south they are big bushes in practically everyone's yard. And when they bloom it is TOTAL HEAVEN!

Thanks YIVY - funny, I've been drinking lots of peppermint tea lately too! And it figures as of today I'm all out.

Wow - I cant imagine having wild growing gardenias.
Really, I'm a typical guy and I know very little about flowers .
Last summer I decided to plant a small herb garden in the backyard, and so far the rosemary has survived the winter and I love the smell of that - I'll go back there just to check on it...now I can't even bring myself to pick it and use it in food.

HB...Rosemary is a very good plant to have around.

According to Scott Cunningham...

ROSEMARY - Masculine
Planet-Sun
Element-Fire
Powers-Protection, Love, Lust, Mental Powers, Exorcism, Purification, Healing, Sleep, Youth

MAGICAL USES: rosemary, when burned, emits powerful cleansing and purifying vibrations, and so is smouldered to rid a place of negativity, especially prior to performing magic. It is one of the oldest incenses.

When placed beneath the pillow rosemary ensures a good sleep and drives away nightmares. Laid under the bed it protects the sleeper from all harm. Rosemary is also hung on the porch and doorposts to keep thieves from the house and is carried to remain healthy. Placed in the bath it purifies.

A chaplet of rosemary, worn, aids the memory, while the wood, smelled often, preserves youthfuness. To ensure the latter add a rosemary infusion to the bath water.

Rosemary has long been used in love and lust incenses and other mixtures, and healing poppets are stuffed with rosemary to take advantage of its curative vibrations. Rosemary infusion is used to wash the hands before healing work, and the leaves mixed with juniper berries are burned in sickrooms to promote healing.

If you wish to receive knowledge or the answer to a question, burn rosemary on charcoal and smell the smoke. Rosemary is also grown to attract elves, and the powdered leaves wrapped in linen cloth and bound to the right arm dispel depression and make the emotions light and merry.

Rosemary is generally used as a substitute for frankincense.

HB...not too bad for just one little plant. A good all purpose magical herb. And it likes to be used, not just stared at So put it to work!

YIVY - looks like I'm going to have to put the Rosemary plant to some use. You're right, it's worse to let the plant sit there without letting it enjoy it's purpose.

This is definately inspiring me to expand my little herb garden in the backyard.

HouseBrownie~ You will be amazed at how much pleasure and use you can get from even the smallest herb garden, even if they are in pots ...and they are all just so pretty to look at too

House Brownie~~~I know more men who are interested in flowers, plants, and gardening than women. Maybe something to do with that tilling the soil history?

Hi guys

I am moving to Denmark soon, I hope we find a nice home. Anyway, I was wondering is there anyt incense that should be burned for a new home to create harmony with our own energies and those around the home??

YIVY... what do you smell of me

-----------
Star Gazers...
---------------
Searching, we star gazers
Imagining, we dream weavers,
Illumining, we light workers,
Glory, to all us true soul seekers.

Never a dull moment
as we direct our focuses further
into realms we onced dismissed
as too foolish to even consider.

Never a dull day
as we explore the depths of our hearts,
our souls, our minds, our beingness;
renewing pledges to complete the sacred journey of transformation we started.

Never a dull life
as we delightfully recognize
that every dream that we hold dear
lights up another star in our blessed skies

First, Raindew..I loved the poem

Ok, to remove any negative vibes in the new place, burn some Frankincense. Plus it sets up a protective aura around the house. And then Lavender will bring all the energies into harmony and spread 'peace'.

Then if you want to raise the spiritual quality, burn some Sandalwood..

Funny, when I tried to 'sniff' around you, all I got was the scent of sulphur...like after a match was struck. So I looked it up.

Sulphur...used in exorcistic and protective incenses.

So it would seem that 'something' is protecting you. Strange how we associate sulphur with the devil and hell...but in reality it is a protective mineral that actually exorcises or chases away the devil.

Good luck with your move, but don't worry...someone or something is protecting you

Sulphur is a protective incense? That's cool, and interesting cuz when I was a little girl I used to love the smell of matches being struck ... I still do like it ... That must be why !

Thanks for smelling Raindew !

Gardening is really nice, I never though I would be into it but it's so relaxing, and its rewarding to sort of keep something alive and then be able to use it.

And I have noticed a lot of men seem to be more into it. the man next door to me has an huge, amazing garden with fresh ripe tomatoes and section with flowers - I'm always peeking my head over the fence to look.

Raindew...how wonderful to have an you know personally taking care of you

HB...what is it with guys and tomatoes? Is it some sort of 'macho' thing? My husband worries more about his tomatoes than anything. Then there is the bragging..."My tomato is bigger than your!" SERIOUS...you should hear some of these 'good ole boys' discussing their tomatos

::giggles:: tomatoes as phallic symbols - thats a new one

i noticed that too, now that i think of it. i guess tomatoes are the macho vegetable. fruit i mean. whatever they are

i don't want to plant them when i start my own garden though - i heard there are lots of faeries that won't visit your garden if you have tomatoes growing in it ?

YIVY - Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge. I bought the following two books immediately on reading this topic.

----------

"Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs (Llewellyn's Sourcebook Series)"
Scott Cunningham

"The Complete Book of Incense, Oils & Brews" Scott Cunningham (Preface), Victoria Poyser-Lisi (Illustrator)

-----------------

Where do you live in Louisiana? I lived in New Orleans for three years before moving up north here to Massachusetts. New Orleans is a beautiful place, I do miss all the parties and fun we used to have every week. I worked there on a project for US Navy, at Chef, East Orleans. I would definitely love to meet you, on my next trip to New Orleans. Once again thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom with love.

Randall - really a big thank you for you too, this website has been a blessing to me, ever since I unexpectedly bumped into it. Keep it going. Also your idea about a book on Linda Goodman, is excellent. Ofcourse you have a lot of time on your hands.. don't we? 600, 700, 800... or more years we have decided to live, that sure is a plenty of time. If there is any help I can do, let me know and I will try my best.

Ratan...yes those are great books that have helped me quite a bit.

I live in central Louisiana outside of Alexandria...in the country. I think that is neat about your living in New Orleans. Believe it or not, I haven't been to New Orleans in several years. Actually closer to 10 years now that I think about it.

I'm not a big party animal, so when there I mostly like to go to the different shops in Jackson Square or watch the artists. And I avoid Mardi Gras there like the plague. Very un-Louisianaian I know

What I really like about Scott's Herb book was looking up the magical qualities of plants growing in my yard.
