Assuming you fake your death, you should be able to do this. Would you want to? Where would you hide?

Interesting question...

I'll give it some thought and come back.

Here's a little something that's been sitting in my files for eons (still haven't read it) but for purposes of this very post I offer it to any who may be interested?
100 Ways To Disappear and Live Free (doc)*Eden Press 1972

You should open this in notepad, wordpad, or similar program after the download completes, as it is a ".doc" file...

Yourfriendinspirit,

Thank you!!

As for attending my own funeral, the thought isn't very appealing to me. Everyone wearing black and crying or looking solemn...

I would but as for hiding where, I would have to obviously disguise myself and keep to myself near the back.

If I was to fake my own death, I think there would be a reason I wouldn't want to be "around" ... so my response would be NO. I'd like to think I'd have better things to do than hang "around"

I'll probably shed this identity for a new one in a few decades. Eden Press rocks!

Can someone say "electronic surveillance"?

Yeah... not sure if I would want to go to my own. I have actually never been comfortable with the idea of a funeral. I have often said I would rather my loved ones have a party on my passing. I don't want a casket, or a religious ceremony, and it would break my heart to think of people I love sitting around all solemn and sad. I would much prefer my final goodbye to be filled with people eating, drinking and making merry.

My mom said something to me at a friends wake in January about a funeral not being for the person who has passed, but for all those who loved them to mourn and make their peace with the loss. I get that, call me selfish, but I would think my peeps would honor my wishes and have a good time with each other (the living) rather than crying over me.

Hmm.. a little morbid of a thought, but I think about it a lot, and have since a young age.

As far as the original quesiton, I think it's an ego thing to want to hang around and see who would be there, what they would have to say about you... I mean, you're dead. Moving on to the beyond, I think you would be over what happened once you were gone...

What about attending one's own birth? When Travel Agencies get in the time travel biz, that would be a great trip.

At your birth, you are not really "you" yet, so it would not be that interesting, but at your funeral it would be like eavesdropping, only, for once nobody would be allowed to say anything bad about you.

i am not concerned about the funeral, i am more concerned about what i would do after it. do i have to move to a far away place and never make contact with my "past life"?

it would be fun to disappear for about 1 year and then come back as a different person (after plastic surgery etc). LOL.

Then get ready to hire bodyguards to protect you from all the nutters who will want to cut short your physical immortality.
