It indoctrinates them into society. But it does serve a custodial function, as well.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

I do think it serves a social purpose.------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

It is notable that when people use the word "eternity" in normal parlance, it is usually with a negative connotiation, as in "the kettle took an eternity to boil"------------------ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places Isaiah 45:3 IP: Logged |

In regard to being out of sync: does anyone else feel, like me, that their real "working day" begins after they go to bed? That is when I do my real work of planning, imagining, dreaming and visualizing. ------------------ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places Isaiah 45:3 IP: Logged |

Time can fly or can drag. Sometimes it does both!------------------ "Never mentally imagine for another that which you would not want to experience for yourself, since the mental image you send out inevitably comes back to you." Rebecca Clark IP: Logged |

I think you have just described routine. For me routine is absolutely when time drags and speeds up at the same time.------------------ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places Isaiah 45:3 IP: Logged |

Boredom is one thing, but the real challenge is not to want time to go more quickly when we are suffering.------------------ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places Isaiah 45:3 IP: Logged |

ok... so have been actively paying attention to those "wasted" moments and not filling the gaps and this is what i have discovered - when i am home on my own i am really quite unaware of time passing... the only indication is the movement of the sun so i can generally tell when it's afternoon as opposed to morning... mind you, this is becoming askew as we approach the autumnal equinox (completely different story there)... when i am most keenly aware of time is when i am in company and i notice a tendancy to become bored around others... case in point - we recently attended a family reunion of sorts and as much as i care about my in-laws and their extended family, i am never so bored or more aware of time as when in their company... ------------------ " Some define good as that which preserves, and evil as that which destroys; but destruction can be cleansing and purifying, for there is such a thing in both men and races as spiritual constipation, which comes from too much preservation of the status quo." I have been thinking of our use of past, future and present tenses. If you put something in the future, it will never happen. A teacher at my school disliked me. That teacher put every good thing in the future for me, ie: "you will be very good at maths one day." Needless to say, I never succeeded at maths.------------------ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places Isaiah 45:3 IP: Logged |

Yes Juni, it is believed that we all have an inner sense of time, which can be developed. But that is one extra sensory perception I have no intention of cultivating.------------------ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places Isaiah 45:3 IP: Logged |

It wasn`t necessarily intentionally developed I work out side 7 months of the year. Time and the calendar both are visable internally and externally and honing the perception. ------------------ We dance around the ring and suppose, but the secret sits in the middle and Knows Robert Frost IP: Logged |

We seem to come equipped with different senses that can preserve us or destroy us. Deathists are always talking about our internal clocks.
