By this I do not mean what is usually meant when people speak of time management, but a metaphysical approach. I invite knowflakes to share their approaches to getting to really appreciate the illusory nature of time.My present thing that I am working on, is to be aware of all the "wasted" minutes we are not usually aware of and to really experience how long they last, for instance, waiting for a kettle to boil or a computer to boot. Practising this really helps me appreciate the relativity of saying that something takes "a long time" or "a short time". ------------------ To live outside the law you must be honest. that's really interesting... will have to try that some time... i generally fill those spaces with some other activity so i've never really paid much attention to how long or how short it takes... maybe the key is to become more aware...

i generally fill those spaces with some other activityI would say that accurately represents the "normal" approach to time management, which is basically: you do not waste something called "time". A metaphysical approach would be to empty the space of activity and observe. By wasting time in this way, you may paradoxically gain more than you lose. ------------------ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places Isaiah 45:3 IP: Logged |

Like emitres, I fill "gaps" with other activities - while waiting. I generally do not follow time, never wear a watch, even the time on my pc and phone are out. For me "time" adds stress in the sense of rushing and limiting me to do something. ------------------ quote: Remember, love can conquer the influences of the planets....It can even eliminate karma.

Yes, I would say step 1 is definitely stop wearing a watch. On holiday I once went for a whole day thinking Saturday was Sunday. I felt strangely exhilarated when I realised I had done this.------------------ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places Isaiah 45:3 IP: Logged |

i too do not wear a watch and found that simple step to be liberating... unfortunately, i live with a man who is still quite fixated on what the "time" is so no chance for me to mess with the clocks in the house (although, every year at the time change i do attempt to leave the clocks the hour "ahead" or "behind"... so far hasn't worked, he changes them within a day or two)... this morning, while heating the kettle, i did try your suggestion maklhouf - then i heard a strange bird call so i grabbed the binoculars to check it out... will attempt it again later ------------------ " Some define good as that which preserves, and evil as that which destroys; but destruction can be cleansing and purifying, for there is such a thing in both men and races as spiritual constipation, which comes from too much preservation of the status quo." I do that thing with the clocks too, every year. I am always astonished at how short a time it takes before I find myself back in sync with rest of my time zone, despite my best efforts to stay out of step.------------------ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places Isaiah 45:3 IP: Logged |

thanks for sharing the video... while she was sharing her news i was keeping an eye on the time passing - once she starting the meditation i was focusing on her directly and, oddly enough, time went by quicker... hhmm...------------------ " Some define good as that which preserves, and evil as that which destroys; but destruction can be cleansing and purifying, for there is such a thing in both men and races as spiritual constipation, which comes from too much preservation of the status quo." I caught myself feeling impatient today and I realised how that made me want time to go faster, so I was actually shortening the time available to me by my own emotional attitude.------------------ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places Isaiah 45:3 IP: Logged |

Yes, that's exactly what I need to do. I've been bad at it in the past, but it is really necessary to deny the reality of chronological time rigorously, because it has such a hold on everybody's minds. Unless you deal with it you can't escape it. ------------------ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places Isaiah 45:3 IP: Logged |

Not to the numerous homeschoolers. There is no necessity for school, except as a prison system, to keep children off the streets------------------ And I will give you the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places Isaiah 45:3 IP: Logged |
