Here's the latest news........

Blaine 'Cuts Off Ear' in Publicity Stunt
DAVID Blaine has pulled his latest shock stunt by appearing to cut off his own ear.

The magician was giving a press conference at London's Savoy Hotel to promote his forthcoming trick, in which he will spend 44 days without food while encased in a plastic box by the River Thames.

With the television cameras rolling, the 30-year-old American opted for shock tactics in his latest bid to grab some publicity.

When a voice in the assembled press pack asked if there was a magic trick he could perform, Blaine came up with this "impromptu" display.

After someone helpfully handed him a knife, he returned to the stage and started hacking away at his left ear.

He cried out and grimaced in pain as what appeared to be blood spurted down his face. Ushered off the stage by aides, a subdued Blaine was back five minutes later to show off the damage - with a slice of his ear apparently missing.

Blaine has made a career from appearing to test his body to the limits - although cynics suggest his stunts are more to do with trickery than human endurance.

They have included being buried alive for a week, being encased inside a six-ton block of ice for nearly three days and standing for 35 hours on top of a 100ft high pole. On Friday he will begin his most ambitious project to date.

He will enter a transparent box measuring seven feet deep, seven feet long and three feet wide, where he intends to remain for 44 days with nothing more than water to sustain him. It's being billed as "the most extreme exercise in isolation and physical deprivation ever attempted".

Blaine told today's press conference: "The damage could be irreversible. You may never see me in this condition again. I assume that mentally I will start to lose my mind after a couple of weeks, and by day 40 it will be a nightmare. This could easily be the last thing I ever do."

What sign is that guy? He seems like such a Scorpio, but yet, traits of Capricorn pop up too. Anyone know?

David Blaine's an Aries. Born in Brooklyn, New York on April 4, 1973

Well I guess we can see how the Mars/Uranus transits are making him do crazy stunts....

I heard that his first night wasn't too pleasant. Passers by were throwing tomatoes and cigarette butts and garbage at his little plexy glass cube.

Tsk Tsk. Not nice.

Hi Lioneye
Yes I read about that too - there really are some not very nice people in this world. Why on earth would they do that

I went to The Tate Modern (art gallery) on Saturday with a girfriend and as Tower Bridge was only another couple of stops on the tube we decided to go there as well. There were a lot of people around, it seems to have become a tourist attraction as they were people from all of the world there. The glass cube isn't actually hanging over the River Thames - it's just to one side of it. Not sure why they changed that - maybe because it can get fairly windy over the river. As it was, the cube was still swaying quite a bit. It's hanging (from a crane)just to the side of a large tree (I'd guess about 6 to 10 foot higher than the tree).

Anyway I do hope whoever, and wherever these people are from, that they will stop throwing things at the cube.

I'm up in london tomorrow doing some filming so i'll drop by and attempt to alleviate his boredom somehow.

Maybe if i got a huge electroluminescent television and placed it down in the park he wouldn't get so bored... hrrm.....

I'm wondering if people don't really believe he's actually in the cube...and that's why they're throwing thing in order to get a reaction to prove he's in it and it's not just a trick/illusion?
I know that's no excuse for the bad behaviour of these "louts" but us Virgo's have gotta analyse to try to find out the reason

N_w A massive TV sounds to me

Well, you just better get your sweet a$$ over to London, England then. And give him a thumbs up for me while your at it.

Oh, and by the way, N_wEvil is a GUY.

I just figured a guy doing a strip tease for David Blaine might actually get some kind of reaction from him. The rotten tomatoes don't seem to be working.

Can I ask a dumb question?

How does he manage to go to the bathroom in that seethru cube? I guess that's why he's drinking only water, hmm?
