Just a personal pet peeve--but don't you think the word "boobies" makes our lovely breasts sound stupid?

Forgot to mention--one of the best things in the world to ensure a good complexion is drinking lots of pure unadulterated water. Lots and lots of it. Helps keep you hydrated, and the toxins flushed from your body. I drink about a gallon a day.

Oh, and once upon a time I read that tea contains tanins (sp?), same thing used to age and preserve leather! Can't be good for your skin!

I never knew tea was used to age leather, maybe it is just used to stain it? tea has anti-oxidents and certain things that are good for you too. I can't go without my tea

yeah, tea is quite good, better than coffee at least. I love both, no hope for me.
I don't know, the word "boobies' is silly, and fun and makes me feel at one with my silly but powerful woman body. I absolutely say the word breasts, as well as other words for them, but boobies is freeing to say. Makes me think of junior high, bra-strap pulling, and a certain innocence. So yes, while I think the word breasts is nice, apt, and lovely, Boobies is fun, and if you can't make fun of them, what can you do?

What a girlie subject! Blah! I'm not much into girlie girl fussiness, but it just so happens I was watching Oprah today, (which is RARE) and I couldn't help but notice that her skin is so lovely. It's so smooth and taut and shimmering. I know she has professional t.v. makeup artists that polish her up before each shows, but I saw a show where they revisited a bunch of old show, and she use to look pretty rough. Especially when she lost all that weight. Forget bags, she had sacks of skin hanging under her eyes, and she just looked haggered. I was amazed at the difference, and that was about 10 years ago. She looks younger now than she did 10 years ago! I wonder if plastic surgery did that for her, or if she's using some new wonderful topical product. If so, I wanna know what!

PS. 'Boobies', '+i++ies ', 'ta-ta's', 'she-she's', etc, those are not offensive words to me. They're cute little pet names for the girls. On the other hand, 'jugs', 'knockers', 'cans' etc...those ARE offensive words, IMHO.

I felt as if I needed to defend tea.. maybe its not a good idea to put it on your face, but 3 generations of women in my family drink about 3 to 4 cups of tea a day.. and none of us has gotten cancer...and we all look way young for our ages too...

I think its good stuff.. but no, i still wouldn't slap it on my face.. but chilled tea bags feel great on sore, tired eyes, and reduces swelling.

I am done being defensive now.. hahah..

So the new colorstay is better? I am going to have to try it out. The old formula can be totally annoying and doesn't respond well to humidity (when I am applying it) or when it dries too fast.

I have the classic T-zone. My skin is normally dry, but can get a bit oily on my forhead and around my nose. I use a facial scrub and facial cleanser to wash my face and then I will use a clay mask about once a week.

I almost always wash my face before I go to bed, maybe once in a great while I forget, but not normally. I hate the feel of make up on my face while I sleep.

The problem I have with make up is keeping the color right. My skin tone is olive and is more of a tawny color, but when I am out in the sun, even with sun block, I can move up a shade or two or my neck will. So then I have to switch. I have the type of job that keeps me on the road and working with livestock outside during the spring and summer, so that can take it's toll.

I am a big advocate of getting enough liquids and sleep. Even if I am on the road, I bring my bubble bath and candles so that I can relax and bring down the tension level.

I think, considering women have the monopoly on this site, that it is a refreshing change, to talk about tips and beauty secrets. It's something we all need. I mean, you can't neglect your soul or your mind, but you also can't neglect your vessel on this plane..... your bodacious, awesome body. I'd love to hear your secrets to glowing health, topically and internally.

What's the absolute BEST facial moisterizer/line minimizer that doesn't cause pimples??? I'm one of those cursed oily skin girls. I mean, c'mon...I'm suppose to be done with pimples at 35, arent' I? Sheesh!
But I want to use something to moisterize and prevent lines. I'm alway buying something different because I haven't found one yet that really works for me.

HELP

So, let's have an informal poll. Favorite topical facial reconditioner for moisturizing, line reduction/prevention which is non-break-out causing.

what do you think of Neutrogena?

I use Zia Daily Moisture Screen (spf 15). It's not as heavy and/or oily as most moisturizers with sunscreen. It's never caused me to break out.

Daily I wash my face with either Burt's Bees Wild Lettuce soap or Aveno oatmeal soap. Once a week I use a Facial Clay Mask by Freeman with acovado and oatmeal

Lioneye~ When you posted that about a moisturizer to prevent lines and also not create breakouts, I immediately thought of a Neutrogena product....then you mentioned Neutrogena. The one I am thinking about is called "Healthy skin" Anti-wrinkle anti-blemish cream. (I think that's what it's called, some variation perhaps) It contains both retinol and salicylic acid. To address both issues. You can use anything oil-free with success, as you won't be clogging your pores with more oil. Surprisingly though, people with drier skin benefit from a bit of oil, of the right type....olive oil, coldpressed, grapeseed oil, etc. But in excess, it will clog pores as well. In moderation with everything.
To rid yourself of blackheads, use a gentle scrub with salicylic acid or alpha/beta hydroxy. Don't use it too frequently, as it could create the opposite effect, overstimulating your skin. Products containing the hydroxy acids exfoliate only what needs to be taken away-they do not thin the skin, they only take away the dead skin cells, the squirrelly gunk that clogs pores, and dulls complexion. They are called "descriminatory exfoliants" meaning they don't take away healthy skin cells. The manual method of exfolliation can potentially create tiny tears in the surface of the skin through which bacteria can get in, creating an environment wrought with breakouts, etc. But as long as you don't overscrub, thinking that you will be squeaky clean if you are rubbed raw, and as long as the scrub you are using has spherical beads, they create less damage.
Retinol works to reorganize the skins' structure, helps it work synergistically with other elements. It's like a drill sergant to collagen, plumping you up. Very good for skin clarity and less lines.
Vitamin C is very volatile and photosensitive, but is exceptional for collagen production and clarity, if it is manufactured well....encapsulated, dark bottle, airtight etc.
I have been hearing good things about both white tea, and soy. Both being rich in anti- oxidents. They guard against and fix free radical damage. Which is essentially loss of skin tone and the basics of aging, as it damages skin cells very quickly. Environmental factors, sun damage, smoking, pollution, alcohol, all contribute to aging faster. So drink lots of water and use sun screen, use a moisturizer with anti-oxidents, and take a multivitamin. I'm finished ranting now, but I hope it was helpful.

If anyone has had problems with pimples, even if you just get a few pimples now and then, I highly recommend ProActive Solution. You can buy it online, but it's kinda costly. I would definitely recommend it to someone who is tired of trying every product out there and just wants something that WORKS. It comes with cleanser, toner and lotion and it wont dry your face out or make it oily (i have combination skin, oily in t-zone and dry on cheeks). My two cents!

Pro active- isn't that a glycolic system? Or is that a benzoil peroxide? I can't remember ( I was frantically looking through issues of *cosmo* to find it.)

I use heavy oil on my face every night and very rarely do I ever get a pimple. In fact, please, I'm not bragging--but people always tell me I have the most lovely skin they've ever seen (and I would like to thank my lucky stars for the blessing!).

I generally avoid commercial moisturizers--they are filled with chemicals that just can't be good for one's sensitive facial skin. There are exceptions, of course--Burt's Bees products were mentioned, those are excellent. I like the Kiss My Face products, and I'm sure there are others as well.

Every night I use the Vitamin E/orange oil moisturizer, simple to prepare, as outlined in the Oranges & Hyacinths section of LL. It's the best thing I've ever used.

Let me tell you 'bout the 2nd best I've ever used. Start with a small wooden bowl--yes, it must be made of wood. Add a thick slice of lemon, over which you poor some cream. I used whipping cream. Let it sit for about 15 minutes...then, apply some on your face a little while before going to bed! Cover the rest and keep it in the fridge. If your skin is oily, add a little extra lemon juice. Your skin will be smooth as silk! I used this for years till discovering the E/orange.

Oh, btw, the word 'boobies' is not offensive to me, only a pet peeve. Generally, slang isn't offensive to me, nor are body parts. Prejudice offends me, injustice offends me...things like that.

I can't recall where I read that about tea...and I may be remembering somewhat incorrectly, for which I apologize. It's not that tea is used on leather, but contains tannins. And tannins are used for dying leather. But don't trust my memory at this point...If i can find any further information, I'll post it.

Trillian~
Essential oils are not technically "oils". They are extracted from peels/fruits/bark/stems of various plants. There are many ways of extraction, depending on the type of essence involved. Some which secure their potency, others less so. Orange/lemon/citrus in general are naturally acidic in pH(citric acid), therefore astringent for the skin. Milk is a natural source of lactic acid. Papaya etc have natural enzymes. So using essential oils on your skin, depending on type, can be awesome, either stimulating or relaxing.
Also, certain oils have smaller molecules, making it easily absorbed by your skin, not clogging it at all. Various types work for different skin types. I am a wee bit envious of your skin's tolerance to things. I have a typical skin type- quite oily in T-zone, normal/oily elsewhere. My chin ( hormonal area) is more prone to break outs than elsewhere. I have to be stringent with my routine, or else my make up needs to be more carefully applied that week! I find benzoil peroxide works great for quickly drying up breakouts. But I use a pore refining scrub too. ( with beta hydroxy)
