I shouldn't say 'again' because I always seem to have sleep problems but it seems worse the past couple weeks. We did just move into a new place but it's a GREAT place with a fabulous aura. I feel totally comfortable here.

I am so exhausted and I get in bed and I'm ready to just fall right out but I don't. I just lay there... and lay there... and lay there. Last night until almost 3am and the night before the same! Then when I finally do fall asleep I wake up so many times during the night. Last night must have been at least 5 or 6 times and the night before it must have been a dozen!

I've taken sleeping pills a couple times when I can't take it anymore and they help a little. They'll just make sure I only wake up 4 or 5 times a night. But UGH they leave me so groggy in the morning. I really hate that.

Our matress is relatively new and pretty comfortable. Maybe I should get a Tempurpedic or something.

arrrrgh!

Anyone have suggestions? Teas, herbs, drugs, mundane, magic.... ??

on a round-about i'm turning on to you.. don't you love the way we're turning, yes you do.. little schools of hummingbirds are streaming by.. while we're merging with the color of the sky.. big yellow sun.. you're the one.. here's our souls
heal them, heal them.. beautiful girl you're the world.. i'm in you, breathing

What kind of sleeping pills do you take. I used to not be able to sleep ,they gave me ambian and i was just fine in the am. Problem has now reversed it's self and i seem to sleep to much. Nothing to do with ambian, started with geodon(anti psychotic, put me to sleep standing up. Yikes!! hated it and stoped, talk about withdrawls ) and didn't really stop after i stoped.I don't fall asleep standing up anymore but I am always tired and sleep alot when i have nothing else to do . Some people say valarian. I used to have great luck with l-triptophane but they took it off the market years ago, it was great though.I'll check online maybee canada still has it? Celestial seasonings has a sleepy time extra tea I do quadroople strength helps little. Hot showers/ baths. Warm milk with vanilla and sugar. A soothing incents or scented pillow. Believe it or not down comforter helped me, it's my blankie. Don't know any sleep spells of the top of my head will research. You could pro'lly make one up though. Cast your circle, light your candle (whatever you normally do) and ask for sleep? like i said i will research. My rotine was a hot shower(so hot I could barely stand it) with candles and inscents. a cup of sleepy time extra, two valarian caps. Incents in my room. Potty so i don't have to later, same with getting a drink
( also keep water by the bed so i don't have to wake up all the way if i get thirsty)getting comfy, and immagining ocaen sounds. ( too poor to buy fake ones ) If i didn't get to sleep in 2 hrs an ambian(but never after 1am!!)I also have asthma so i sleep with my head and shoulders elevated and keep my rescue inhaler and coughdrops by the bed as well. Sometimes when i wake up repetedly i turn the clock around so i can't see what time it is. I can fall asleep again faster with out going "Oh no I woke up every hr on the hr." or watching " great it's 3 am... 3:30..." kinda tricks me into thinking i may have gotten more sleep than i have

Greetings...

A little sprinkle of zapped (just charge the herb with the intention of sleep) Patchouli herb in the bed and you'll sleep like the dead.

I told 2 Different friends of mine who had bouts of insomnia about this and the both said the same thing (INDEPENDENT of each other mind you)...

1) I slept like the dead
2) I went to sleep on my (back, side) and woke up in the same position.

Couldn't hurt, and all natural too.

Hope that helps...
A

I have suggestions! I have suggestions!

First, never have any caffeine past 12 noon. (or none ever at all)

I use 5-HTP every night. It is all natural. It helps for a lot of different ailments, and it DOES AID SLEEP! Take at bedtime.

I've also used Calms Forte (all natural, homeopathic).

Tazo Tea's "Calm Herbal Infusion" helps me sleep too! I actually wrote a thread about it here; Tazo Tea

Good Luck!

Yeah, what do I know, I can't sleep either...
A pharmacist I know takes a gravol or two.. as long as there are no contra-indicators...

But I haven't tried it.. ( looks at watch)
obviously....

Visualizing numbers or fantasizing, although that last one gets my heart racing a bit, but I dream up the best scenarios! Nothing better than going off to sleep with thoughts of that sexy co-worker or neighbour.

I find tensing up each muscle group and then letting go very relaxing and peaceful....

Valerian (root/stems/flowers)is available in bulk herbal stores here, I know that... at least it was...

Good luck.. with dreams like yours, I'd want to get to sleep as fast as I could!!!

Try to keep the excitement of all the new changes in perspective. Allow yourself time to assimilate and NOT sleep for a while, you are still categorizing your new environment. It's like having a sleep over in an unfamiliar house.. only it is now yours.. it takes a while.

Wych, I don't know if this will help because they both sound silly.

1) My mother swears by graham crackers and milk before bed.

2) Train your Brain! One of my childern's doctors told us about this method and it has helped. Find some soft music that you like. Play it as you are falling asleep, even if you only dose off for a few minutes. Then every time it is time for sleep listen to the same music. This will "train your brain" to let you sleep. Just remember to pick a type of music that you are not likley to hear away from home. Otherwise you may get sleepy in public and want to sleep if you hear "your song".
I recomend something classical or envoirment sounds or something not popular by Enya.

Hope this helps. best of luck to you!

Do you work out? Excercising regularly helps the body sleep more deeply. Weight lifting and cardio did it for me.

Greetings,
Perhaps it has something to do with your hormones. Could you have them checked? Maybe too much of one or too little of one is the problem. I have had trouble sleeping since men a pause became a fixture at my house.I recently began taking bioidentical hormones and for the first time in years i am seeing a difference in my sleeping habbits. Ambien did help me sleep when i took it but it knocked me out for 8 hours and i mean out! There were no side effects though. Sorry i don't have any advice, except seeing a doctor. Good luck, not getting enough sleep
affects all aspects of ones life. Sue
