Actually re: the duck's quack:

The Ducks quack itself registers at the same pitch as its echo, thus it is difficult to distinguish the two, but with the right equipment and some patience it can be proven that a duck's quack does indeed echo.

Maybe because it contained vinegar? I think vinegar was used for many, many things - will have to look into that though. Also tomatoes are a antioxidant? Just a thought
