SWEET! I just went outside, my mom wanted me to look at the sky...quite exciting since I had seen a falling star earlier tonight...I looked up, and the sky to the north/northeast was GLOWING! And flashing! Then one part turned a misty light greenish, with slight curtains appearing!! It was so beautiful. They starting coming overhead in wispy, flashing lines as well.

Also, my mom had seen a shooting star earlier. And then, while we were both watching the northern lights, a HUGE one, with a brilliantly bright tail, shot right across our fields of vision!

HOLY CRAP!!! I just ran outside again, and the northeastern northern lights happened to have been moving to overhead in long lines...and they were shimmering from the horizon to overhead, rather wavelength from green to red to white, and sort of creating a dome shape to a point directly overhead. And I saw 2 more shooting stars whilst watching

Quite a very active night out there for this area, usually I'm lucky if I see one shooting star in the upstate NY sky!

26t I hope you can see these too, they're so beautiful

Holy shite, I just froze my arse off.
But it was totally worth it. WOW WOW WOW!!! What a show! Thanks VTT, I'm glad I didnt miss that.

Yes! The sky was GLOWING and FLASHING like a strobe light. White to green with a little pink here and there. It looked like the sky was breathing...pulsing. The colors man.....*acid flashback* .....okay, I'm back.

The best part was when the green got really bright behind the black silhouette of the mountains. It looked like the mountains had a green aura or were on .....'green fire.' HUGE white pulsing streaks across the sky. So cool.....wish you all coulda seen it.

And I DID see a shooting star. (a baby one though)

I was doing a variation of the pee dance just to try to keep warm!! SO COLLLDDDDD. But totally worth it!

26T I am SOOOO glad you got to see it too!!!!!! Everytime I see rad things like this I want to share them with the whole world!

HAHAH acid flashback!! HAHAHA

green fire! I remember seeing the northern lights a few years ago, and the green began right above the horizon, where a trashplant stood. Haha, the trashplant was glowing green!

YAY! In all I saw 5 shooting stars tonight. My mom looked online afterwards, and I guess there are 2 separate meteor showers in November and tonight was in the middle of one of them, so keep a lookout, maybe there'll be more this month

"glowing trashplant"

I know - so glad I got to see it. I wanted to wake up all the neighbors. LOL

It's absolutely FRIGID here!!! We got our first dusting of snow yesterday - and another one today. (I'm not a winter person at all, but I love New England- I'll suffer through it.) ....This is just the beginning. uggghh.

I did go back outside and the show was over. So I'm glad I caught it.

I'll be on the lookout for the next meteor shower.

26T, we got snow too! It was weird, like a 5 minute blizzard. Part of me thought it was pretty and made me feel a tad festive (I started my holiday season shopping during it) but I'm not a winter person at all either!

Here's the page my mom and I found about the meteor showers if you're interested

Hey VTT!

Yeah....winter. Maybe I'll take up snowboarding. I live right near Bromley and Stratton. Hopefully we'll get a light winter this year.

Good for you on starting your holiday shopping. I was just reading that Mercury will be retro end of Nov/Dec., so it's best to get it done early.

Thanks for the link. I'm going to check it out now!

Interesting .... the Alaska Natives up here say that if you "Whistle" at the northern lights they will dance. Its a old story from their culture ..... alot of my guys (employees) say its pretty neat to go work in those villages and see all the natives gathered on the shores whistling up at the bright nights sky... the guys say, they dont know whether there is truth behind it or not, but the lights dance and move about the sky!

I'm hoping for a light winter too but so far things look like they're heading for nastiness. Snowboarding! That sounds like fun, I like extreme sports .

ACK! Another Merc retro?! Such horrible timing, good god. Should make for an interesting holiday season
