I have been searching for biotech / geek work since I moved out here in September, but this being a more rural county...well, biotech is not common.I was even doing temp work (for those of you that know me, you know that I am a total bio-geek) for a company on Post..doing office work. It was cool, but I was really holding out for a bio-position. Well..then a position finally opens in this county...a Public Health Surveillance Specialist (Bio-geek). Working with the epidemiologist (another geek..but with biology / statistics)... The position is with the Bio-terrorism preparedness unit and works with local, state and federal agencies (like the CDC) tracking down health related problems, implementing bio-terrorism response plans..etc.. Basically, it is my DREAM JOB...I had dreamed about doing this for the CDC, but didn't have all the experience I needed..but now I do... So I went to the interview and beat out all the other candidates (they had 4-5 interviews a day, today being the last day) They said they would call on Friday or early next week. BUT..the called today..and offered me the job at a higher salary than they would normally start off because of my background (which is impressive now that I have more than 10 years of work behind me LOL). Hell, they could have offered me NOTHING..LOL.. And it is a county job..so hurrah for benefits.. More importantly, I will be able to help and protect others...I will be teaching law enforcement agencies about being prepared for outbreaks, bio-terrorism as well as working with other health organizations. Anyway, I wanted to share that...because many here know that I was getting a bit down about not finding something more in line with my background and feeling a bit of dispair over what direction I would take as far as a career.  ~Pidaua ------------------ Better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.

Thanks everybody!!!!I am so happy..I feel like I won the lottery!!! Mr. T's b-day is on the 19th and we are both working- BUT!!!..I am going to bake him his favorite Pecan Pie and Chicken Pastry (a dinner he LOVES from North Carolina). It will be a surprise...so hopefully he won't see this post LOL..oh yes..and I am getting him a digital camera (top of the line for that Virgo Moon Sun in the first house- Taurus LOL...). My dad is coming this weekend- so we'll be doing the Tombstone / Fort Huachuca thing. I end this temp job on the 6th and start the new one on the 9th (yippppeeeeee).
